Forum moving to a new server

Great news! Since the Daily Mobile forum is growing so much every month its time to move the forum to another server dedicated for the forum only. We are testing the new setup for the server now and will move the forum as soon as the test and configuration has been made. During the move, the forum will be down for a while.

Note that the blog will be online  during the forum move.

Changes in the RSS Feed

Daily Mobile is growing more and more for every day and with more visitors comes more spam. For every post that i have published the last year ill get more than 15 pinkbacks from sites that duplicates the post content  (example: original postspam post). This problem is very common and every webmasters knows how hard it is to get rid of these sites. The spider / bots gets the info from the blogs RSS feeds.  Therefore i have decided to change how our RSS feeds will be published from now one and unfortunately many of you will not like this idea, but its the only way to prevent the spam spiders copy the posts.

From now on the RSS feed will contain only a short part of the post and it will more be like a “pingback” to our RSS readers that a new post has been published, and to read the post you have to visit the site (The direct link to the article will be included in the feed). This will also affect the blogs mobile edition  since it also use the RSS feed to display the content. Thankfully there are a few plugins that will redirect the mobile users to a mobile version of the site. I just need to check out which of them i should use.

Once again, im sorry that this had to happen but its the only way :/

What is RSS?

Webmasters create an RSS file containing headlines and descriptions of specific information. While the majority of RSS feeds currently contain news headlines or breaking information the long term uses of RSS are broad.

RSS is a defined standard based on XML with the specific purpose of delivering updates to web-based content. Using this standard, webmasters provide headlines and fresh content in a succinct manner. Meanwhile, consumers use RSS readers and news aggregators to collect and monitor their favorite feeds in one centralized program or location. Content viewed in the RSS reader or news aggregator is place known as an RSS feed.

RSS is becoming increasing popular. The reason is fairly simple. RSS is a free and easy way to promote a site and its content without the need to advertise or create complicated content sharing partnerships.
