Smartphones cameras are getting better and better and are becoming one of the main selling points of the high end smartphones. OmniVision Technologies are leading with the newest technology announcing its new CameraChip sensor for smartphones that support 16-megapixel burst photography and can capture 4K2K video, or Quad Full High Definition (QFHD).

The OV 16285 is capable of operating in full resolution 4608 x 3456 video at 30 FPS, 4K2K 3840 x 2160 video at 60 FPS, 1080p HD video at 60 FPS with extra pixels for electronic image stabilization (EIS) and it’s expected to enter volume production by the fourth quarter of 2012.

OmniVision’s 5-megapixel imaging chip is used in the iPhone 4 and in the new iPad.

In the ongoing Apple V Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 saga, The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has ruled that Apple’s design-related patent on the Apple iPad is valid.

The Courts recent decision overturns an earlier Californian courts ruling that prevented Apple securing an injunction against sales.

After this Fridays ruling, Apple put forward a motion to have the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 pulled from shop shelves. This could happen as early as next month.

FOSS Patent’s Florian Mueller said that Apple’s injunction motion has a great chance in succeeding considering that one Circuit Court Judge believes that a ban is warranted by the evidence presented by Apple and even issued a dissenting opinion saying that simply tossing the original verdict in the California was not enough relief for the Cupertino based manufacturer, and that Apple deserved more.

“Circuit Judge Kathleen O’Malley argued that the CAFC should have reversed the decision in order to provided Apple with immediate injunctive relief in light of the irreparable harm it is suffering. But the majority of the judges saw ‘no reason to believe that there will necessarily be delay, or if there is delay that it will be unjustifiable.”-Florian Mueller

Apple are still trying for an out of court agreement with friend and foe Samsung and have asked them to respond to the current motion by May 25th.

T-Mobile in the USA has today announced it’s plans for a new LTE network that is actually made possible by the failure of joining forces with AT&T.

Last week, T-Mobile secured the AWS spectrum licenses from AT&T which were agreed to as part of the breakup of the proposed merger between the two companies. This new spectrum, in addition to the refarming effort, enables the launch of LTE in AWS spectrum and up to 20 MHz of LTE in 75% of the top 25 markets.

“We’re making great progress on our four billion dollar 4G network transformation,” said Neville Ray, chief technology officer, T-Mobile USA. “With these partners on board and the AT&T AWS spectrum secured, we’re on track to enhance our 4G experience this year and deliver nationwide LTE in 2013.”

T-Mobile also announced that its nationwide HSPA+ network has expanded to deliver a competitive 4G experience to well over 220 million people in 229 markets. In addition to an expanding 4G footprint, the 4G experience T-Mobile provides is pervasive among its customer base.

“In contrast to our competitors, nearly half of T-Mobile’s postpaid smartphone customers are using a 4G device,” said Ray. “Not only are we delivering a fast 4G experience to a higher percentage of our customers, we’re also making it more affordable to step up to 4G. Breaking news currently spanning the blogosphere confirms Facebook’s acquisition of Instagram for an unbelievable 1 billion dollars.

The deal, sealed for 1 billion dollars in cash and shares, is confirmed by Mark Zuckerberg in his status update of his Facebook’s timeline and also by Kevin Systrom on instagram’s blog.

Mark agreed that it is the first time that they have acquired a product and a company with so many users.

Apple is in for another lawsuit, and this time it’s from an 83 year old granny who allegedly broke her nose after failing to notice Apple’s glass door and walking straight into it in New York city.

Evelyn Paswall filed a case against the company citing negligence in putting up a sign to alert customers of the glass door’s presence. The Mac Observer, however noted that the glass door had a small striped panel that serves as the door’s warning sign.

Paswall ain’t too happy about the said panel and claimed her eyesight is still very good telling The New York Post:

“I may be elderly, but I’m very active, and I’m still driving too,”.

She also added that if she didn’t see that in there, then the panel isn’t suitable.

Apple is yet to respond to Paswall’s lawsuit as of this writing.

Today Microsoft launched their first Windows Phone in China, the biggest mobile phone market in the world.

The press conference was held in Beijing where Microsoft introduced the operating system and their new Chinese language interface for Windows Phone.

The first Windows Phone handset on the Chinese market is HTC Eternity (rebranded HTC Titan), it features a 4.7 inch WVGA display, 8MP rear camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera, 1.5GHz single-core processor, and 16GB of internal memory, and is available as a free market phone.

Nokia will hold a special press conference in China next week on the 28th of March, where we will see the Lumia series variants for this market.
