Today, Opera introduces Opera Mini 5.1, an update to the popular Opera Mini 5, which further improves the browsing experience on phones with limited memory. The update includes a new optimized browser skin allowing for more pages to be open at the same time, more rapid scrolling through pages, and overall improved browsing performance.
This update is highly recommended for users of Nokia S40 feature phones with limited memory, such as the popular Nokia 5130 XpressMusic, Nokia 6300 and Nokia 2700 handsets. This upgrade will also benefit phones with a small screen size, such as the Sony Ericsson K550i and Sony Ericsson W810i phones. In addition, Opera Mini 5.1 will improve the browsing experience for those who have encountered out-of-memory issues or the need to reload open web pages while surfing with Opera Mini 5. The update is not critical for Opera Mini users on smartphones or high end devices.

Heres the first high quality picture of the Aava Moorestown phone that runs the new MeeGo OS. Looking good eh? (Click on the image to view the original image)
Just a quick post because I need to get away for an appointment this afternoon. For the next 48 hours i’ll have the Intel Moorestown-based Aava prototype phone. It’s a development platform running MeeGo core and an alpha-quality UI so don’t expect miracles here but I can see that at least Wifi and the browser are working so there’s at least something to demo. Stay tuned for a video look at the user interface, a few apps and maybe a look at the device from the command line. All coming up over the next 48 hours.

The core source code for the MeeGo operating system (OS) is available to developers from today, Intel has announced, and is scheduled for release in October 2010. MeeGo is a Linux-based open source mobile operating system being developed by the computer chip manufacturer Intel and Nokia. The project, announced at the Mobile World Congress in February, will merge Intel’s Moblin and Nokia’s Maemo systems into a new mobile OS.

Yesterday was the first day in my new job. I’m fortunate to say that I must have one of the most exciting jobs in the business. As head of Mobile Solutions, it’s my aim to ensure Nokia stays as the market and intellectual leader in creating the digital world. I’m under no illusions; it’s no small task.
Over the coming months, we’ll be advancing current projects and working to simplify the way we work in order to deliver products and services faster, and with a laser focus on quality.

According to the Nokia people that CNET spoke to, the Nokia N8 will be the last N-series to run on Nokia’s Symbian platform, all N-Series from here on will run MeeGo. Lets hope that this is true since Nokia really gonna need MeeGo to compete with Apples iOS 4 and Android. What do you guys say? Should Nokia stick with Symbian on their top smartphones or should they go with MeeGo instead?
Update: @eldarmurtazin:
Nokia N8 is not a final Symbian device in Nseries. Cnet misunderstand Nokia as i see it. It will be at least 3-4 devices more.
