The Wall Street Journal reported earlier tonight that Microsoft–in what would be its most aggressive acquisition in the digital space–was zeroing in on buying Skype for $8.5 billion all in with an assumption of the Luxembourg-based company’s debt. Sources told BoomTown tonight that the deal for the online telephony and video communications giant is actually done and will be announced early tomorrow morning. Update: its official now!

The cross-platform application and UI framework Qt has just got is importance in an all new level now that it’s been used successfully under Android OS. This means good news for Android users that will be able to use Qt based apps but also Symbian, Maemo and Meego that will probably see more developers embrace this new platform. In fact, for developers, Qt can be the solution to develop apps that can reach a wider range of users across OS’s, including the 2 principal OS currently on the market: Android and Symbian. The tests made also demonstrate that Qt apps not only run under different phones and OS but also run on Tablets with different resolutions. Check the videos after the break.
