The unofficial Nokia N97 Mini iSync Plugin enables Mac syncing

For those that just bought the Nokia N97 Mini and cannot use the phone to sync with their Mac should try to download the unofficial N97 Mini iSync plugin. According to the developer this plugin enables the Mac syncing (but its not perfect). Download the plugin from here (use this plugin as your own risk, you may damage your phone)

Current issues:

  • The icon is the N97, not the Mini.
  • Syncing is Bluetooth only, no USB (yet).
  • This is the first time I’ve ever made an iSync plugin and I’ve no idea if it’ll work for anyone other than me! As such this is considered development software provided as-is. I take no responsibility for any of loss of data.

Symbian: Ovi Contacts updated

The OVI Contacts app for Symbian S60v3 and S60v5 got updated today and it seems that the Nokia team been busy fixing tons to bug fixes and also adding better compression and file transfer support.

The updated client contains some new features like: file transfer and improved compression. File transfer obviously is a nice feature if you need to quickly beam up your newly taken photo to your friend and you don’t want to be restricted by the size of the photo (as in, you can transfer bigger files than before). And our new compression will save you a bit of costs in terms of battery consumption and data consumption. We’ve measured the data consumption to be about 60% less of what it was with the previous version.

We’ve also made some progress on the user experience improvements requested. You’ll notice that in the Contacts tab, there are now three quick buttons to see a friend’s profile (or your own), start a chat, and add friends.

Symbian app: OffScreen Wall Calendar Touch Symbian app: OffScreen Wall Calendar Touch

The OffScreen Wall Calendar Touch application helps you to zoom into any day on your phones calendar and write your own notes. Easy and simple! Supported devices: Nokia 5800, N97, N97 Mini and 5530.

There are a lot of programs that you test and uninstall. This one will remain in my phone. It is just too handy to quickly link specific notes to dates. Besides, for people who can’t install XpressNote, this is a very nice alternative.
