More trouble at RIM: BlackBerry Playbook Value to be Written Down
Posted by: MASMedia in Blackberry, Tablets
In another blow to troubled Playbook maker, RIM announced they will be writing down the value of it’s poor selling device after weak demand and excess inventory.
This move means that they will now suffer a huge $360 million tax charge for the quarter. With a number of playbooks stuck in inventory, Rim hopes that additional promotional activity is required to move the slow selling tablets. A couple of reasons were cited by the company as the cause including the delay of it’s updated OS as well as a weak overall demand in the tablet marketplace.
