Touch panel issues lead to iPhone 5 delay

At a time when iPhone 4S cases make their entry at AT&T, new reasons surface for the delay of iPhone 5 and this time it is the touch panel disorder.

Japanese Digitimes claims that the launch of iPhone 5 is delayed because of touch panel display issues. The defect has appeared on the Wintek made touch screens and is being called the “delayed bubble” effect which leads an air bubble between the layers of the film.

There hasn’t been a specific comment on this from Wintek and we do not know the number of iPhones that have been affected by this. Though Wintek claims that the deliveries will all be on schedule but what we know for a fact is that Wintek is responsible for 20-25% production of the touch panels with the rest being shared by Taiwanese TPK Holding and Chimei Innolux with 60%-65% and 10%-20% respectively.
