KIDDI to end monopoly and sell iPhone 5

While we have all the news and confusion of Apple’s scheduled iPhone release next month, KIDDI has announced that it will offer iPhone 5 from early 2012.

With this KIDDI ends the monopoly of iPhone sales in Japan which was being ruled by Softbank which is the third largest mobile carrier.

There have been some ongoing negotiations between KIDDI and Apple and both have come to an agreement claims the country’s biggest newspaper. KIDDI believes that iPhone 5 will be on sale officially from next month but still would take some time to be available on the carrier. With this, Softbank’s plans to make some changes to the pricing plans making its offerings more aggressive.

However, when spoken to a KIDDI spokeswoman, she said that the company has made no official comments.

KIDDI is currently offering Android run smartphones and tablets with an in-house developed smartphone as well.
