It didn’t really come as a good news for the beautiful interface and design lovers that HP was killing of webOS. But their appeared a silver lining of hope when rumours that Samsung would buy the platform surfaced.
But it doesn’t seem to be concluding as thought as Samsung has insisted that it is not going to by webOS.
Bloomberg reports:
The South Korean company will “never” pursue such a deal, Chief Executive Officer Choi Gee Sung said in Berlin, where he’s attending the IFA consumer electronics fair. The comment, made to reporters in response to questions about analysts’ speculation of a possible purchase, was confirmed by Nam Ki Yung, a spokesman for Samsung in Seoul.
“It’s not right that acquiring an operating system is becoming a fashion,” Choi said. Samsung, which has its own mobile operating system called Bada, is working to boost its software capability “harder than people outside think.”
Though it still is matter of debate that whether or not should a company acquire an OS but couldn’t be any worse than throwing away hundreds of smart phones using the OS that is used by almost everyone except Apple and Blackberry.
Do you think that between webOS and Bada, Samsung might do better with the former alongside its Android portfolio? Should Samsung mix up things a little bit and pick webOS and bring out some tablets and smartphones in the market? Or should it continue with Android as it is churning arguably some of the best Android smartphones in the market?
