Nokia Nearby is a hyper-local search application which you can use to look for information about places and listings near you and also share this information with any of your contacts. While this app works on Series40, S60, and Symbian devices, it is targeted primarily towards emerging markets with a high emphasis on Series40 devices, including those that don’t have Nokia Maps or GPS on them. With Nokia Nearby you can discover places & listings like restaurants, movie theaters, and malls and get details about the places that interest you and contact them from within the app.

Austrian smartphone users have a marked preference for Android, with 38% opting for a device based on the Google operating system, according to the results of a new survey published by Telekom Austria. 30% plumped for Apple’s iOS, 13% for Symbian, and 9% for Windows, the study of 1,200-plus mobile users from the age of 12 upwards, showed. The study was carried out in June and July 2011 on behalf of incumbent operator Telekom Austria by GfK Austria.
