Nokia pulls plug on Ovi Files   Mobile based file sharing service ditched after poor take up

Nokia is ditching Ovi Files, its mobile file-sharing service, from next month following poor subscription take up. A Nokia spokesman said:

‘Nokia is discontinuing the Ovi Files service, effective October 1, 2010. We want to explore broader horizontal offerings in mobile maps, email, messaging, media, social networks and music.’

The folks at pocketnow takes a look at the Bing Maps application for Windows Phone 7. Note that the hardware and software shown here are not final. The app works much like other map apps. You can search for a nearby location, get directions, email location, and even read reviews. You can also pin a location to your Start screen, which is quite unique.

SAmsung and Vodafone today announced the launch of the Samsung GALAXY Tab (Model: GT-P1000). Powered by Android Operating System 2.2, the GALAXY Tab is the first tablet, “smart media device” by Samsung.

The GALAXY Tab will start selling in October in the majority of Vodafones European markets and through several partner networks, as well as in a number of other Vodafone markets worldwide.
