Nokia chairman Jorma Ollila to step down in 2012Posted by: Phat^Trance in Nokia, Press releasesNokia Corp. Chairman Jorma Ollila, the executive credited with turning the Finnish company into the world’s largest handset maker, plans to step down in 2012, a spokeswoman said. Tuesday’s surprise announcement, coming just days after Nokia said that it had hired Microsoft executive Stephen Elop to replace its chief executive, signals that a deeper transformation could be in store at the company than many had anticipated. Some analysts worried that the continued presence of Ollila atop Nokia would make it more difficult for Elop to rejuvenate the handset giant. His departure would clear the way for Elop to pursue his own course.
