HDR Capture is a High-Dynamic-Range Imaging (HDRI) application for the Nokia N900, especially useful in situations when there is too much light, such as a portrait of a person with a bright sky behind her. The camera takes up to three images with different exposure settings and combines them to an image that shows the details of both the foreground and background objects, without under or over-exposing any of them.

GALAXY S

Samsung today announced that it has shipped one million of its Android 2.1-powered Galaxy S devices in the U.S. market. Samsung Mobile began shipping the Galaxy S portfolio2 on July 15, which are currently available with AT&T and T-Mobile. Galaxy S devices will also be available with Sprint on August 31 and will be available with Verizon Wireless, U.S. Cellular and Cellular South this fall.

Samsung Mobile has packed cutting-edge technology into its Galaxy S portfolio, including features such as a stunning 4-inch Super AMOLED display screen, 1GHz Hummingbird Application Processor and a multitude of entertainment, messaging and social networking capabilities. In addition, all Samsung Galaxy S devices will be upgradable to Android 2.2 in the future.

This software release brings a number of performance improvements, including improved browser, improved search, and a new version of the Facebook application. This release also includes the Qik application for recording and sharing videos live from your device. To get this software through your device, select Applications > Software Update, and choose the software you want to update. Alternatively, this software release is available through the Nokia Software Updater.

Samsung Epic 4G vs. Nexus One Speed Comparisions

In this video the folks at pocketnow looks at a hacked Google Nexus One running a super-fast Froyo ROM with the stock Epic 4G. They look at overall interface elements (using the same Launcher app and similar widgets), side-by-side benchmarking, 802.11n data speeds, and 3G data speeds. Since the Nexus One doesn’t have 4G WiMax on-board this seemed a fair comparison.
