It was a short three years ago that Eric Schmidt, Chief Executive of Google and Steven Jobs, Apple’s co-founder shooks hands to release the iPhone and Mr Schmidt joked that they should simply merge their companies and call them “AppleGoo”.

Today, the two companies grapple over the future and shape of mobile computing and during recent months Google and Apple have jousted over patents, acquisitions, directors and iPhone applications.
