O2 Rules on VoIP Nokia and Skype Deal

O2 rules on VoIP!  O2 has spoken about the forthcoming deal between Nokia and Skype.  Skype allows you to make voice calls via data.  Effectively, the cost of calls are the same whether a friend is in the same country as you or on the other side of the World.  In such cases the amount of data used is increased.

O2′s statement reads: “In the case of unlimited data services such as our data bolt on and iPhone tariffs, VoIP is prohibited within the excessive use policy…  to offer the best possible customer experience, we prohibit continuous streaming of any audio/video content, Voice over IP, P2P and file sharing services.”

Do not be surprised if the other networks have a similar policy in respect of VoIP.

  1. Seems that o2 dont want there traffic to increase and slow down there wap services but o2 have always been strict when it comes to these terms.
