Press: Apple Sues HTC for Patent Infringement
Posted by: Phat^Trance in iPhone, Press releases, Windows Mobile

Apple today filed a lawsuit against HTC for infringing on 20 Apple patents related to the iPhone’s user interface, underlying architecture and hardware. The lawsuit was filed concurrently with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and in U.S. District Court in Delaware.
“We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it. We’ve decided to do something about it,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “We think competition is healthy, but competitors should create their own original technology, not steal ours.”

Apple reinvented the mobile phone in 2007 with its revolutionary iPhone, and did it again in 2008 with its pioneering App Store, which now offers more than 150,000 mobile applications in over 90 countries. Over 40 million iPhones have been sold worldwide.
Apple ignited the personal computer revolution in the 1970s with the Apple II and reinvented the personal computer in the 1980s with the Macintosh. Today, Apple continues to lead the industry in innovation with its award-winning computers, OS X operating system and iLife and professional applications. Apple is also spearheading the digital media revolution with its iPod portable music and video players and iTunes online store, and has entered the mobile phone market with its revolutionary iPhone.

Apple – Do as I say, not as I do. Think they may have infringed on a few others patents in the past.
apple loses its position in market -.-
so what do apple do ?
hmm drag others down too xD
Did they ever pay off Nokia for all the patents and stuff they infringed?
Now i hate apple as much as i hate microsoft
Oh, did i mention i hate software patents too?
so was this article written by apple or by a reporter?

I’m from Sweden and I’ve created a facebook group that supports HTC in the battle.
I have made it international so please join the group. It would really make me happy.

It always and always surprises me when the insanely successful people become douches. 5 years ago i was pushing people to buy a mac. …. recently a lot of Mac laptops has failed on me. 3 years ago the Iphone came out along with Steve’s restrictions and car salesman pitch on stage. I have now given up depending on all apple products. This case on Htc strengthened my views on apple.
Nowadays i see Steve and Co., as salesmen twisting facts and figures while using big words. Logically every business wants to the make money but Steve was many’s favorite. Steve’s rise in the financial world has made him fallen lower.
here we go again… Y doesnt apple just roll over and die already
Love the mac. Love the iPhone. Apple have a Right to sue if patents have been infringed just as much as a company has to sue apple for infringement. It’s swings and roundabouts in the world of patents. I’m with steve on this one.

Patents hinder competition, it’s a bad apple. We as consumers do not benefit from them. This is the reason why we are never going to see the perfect smartphone in our lifetime.
“We think competition is healthy, but competitors should create their own original technology, not steal ours.” Steve Jobs’ quote
Steve Jobs is a hypocrite. He has done his fair share of stealing from others to get to where he is today.
please explain to me why we should support a much hyped and over grown gorilla company like Apple nowadays ?
and one other thing…
Apple in the past has lost to Microsoft because of one reason, and that is keeping everything to themselves. Apple hindered productivity when they got to the top. some examples include DRM protection and iphone lock down. and what about trying to own rights for a Graphical User Interface that they themselves stole from Xerox. Steve thinks he has learned a lesson from all this. But in reality still hasn’t.
Microsoft is soon to be releasing Windows Mobile Phones Series 7. The new Microsoft mobile OS will kick Apple right in the groin where it hurts the most. The iPhone.
