Review: Nokia N97 Mini   A Slightly Smaller Experience

As a N97 owner I am well qualified to rate the N97 Mini against its older sibling.  The N97 Mini looks almost identical in looks form and size to the N97.  Follow the break below for the full gallery of comparison images.  The first thing I realised was that the N97 Mini was slightly slimmer and so more comfortable to hold, particularly for those of us with small hands.  The screen size was slightly smaller than the N97.  However, I found that the N97 held the same amount of text and gallery, menu items when viewing as per the N97.  Indoors the displays were comparable and outdoors the N97 Mini had a more washed-out display, more difficult to read in sunlight.

Nokia N900 gets a minor firmware update   v1.2009.44 1

According to My Nokia blog, the Nokia N900 got a new minor firmware update today. You can download the v1.2009.44-1 firmware via the OTA (Over the air) feature on the N900. No Changelog have been found.

Reporter breaks an unbreakable mobile phone at CES

Nokia N86 firmware updated to v21.006

The Nokia N86 gets a new firmware update and the new firmware v21.006 can be downloaded from NSU (included in the Nokia PC Suit). Be sure to backup your important data before updating. The changlog is still unknown. [Via]

Hands on with the Linux based First ELSE Phone

Here’s a hands-on video with the  Linux based “First Else Phone”. The specifications list of the new handset includes a TI OMAP 3430 processor, coupled with 256MB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. In addition, the phone also delivers a 3.5-inch touchscreen display that boasts a 480 x 854 pixel resolution and support for 262K colors, as well as a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus and image stabilization capabilities.

Other specs of the new First Else device include WCDMA/HSDPA/ GSM/ GPRS/ EDGE with Quad band 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz & 1900 MHz and Tri-band 850 MHz, 1900 MHz & 2100 MHz support, along with Bluetooth connectivity, and Wi-Fi capabilities. A GPS receiver is also present in the package, as well as a 3.5 mm headset jack, and Tilt, Proximity and Light sensors. The new mobile phone comes with a 1450mA battery and measures 13mm x 56.6mm x 115.6 mm.
