OVI Maps Navigation released for the Nokia N97

The free OVI Maps navigation software for the Nokia N97 has finally been released (as promised) by Nokia, one week after the announcement that the OVI Maps goes freeware. You can download the OVI Maps from Software Update (in the Applications folder).

Tried to download from Software Update (in the Applications folder)….
Result:Installation failed!

@Fotis: I had the same problem (Italy) but I solved it by downloading the Ovi Maps version for N95 Mini from here: http://maps.nokia.com/explore-services/ovi-maps/downloads#/default/
It works perfectly on my Nokia N97!

I am very happy with this update. Before I can never use the GPS at all. No problem with update installation.
Before I can’t get any GPS signal in my room but now I can get 3-4 signals bar. Outside my house I can get 5 to 6 signals. I tried the navigation from my house to my friend which is 5 mill ; I have no problem at all and the signal strength didn’t drop at all. One thing I realize is that the battery drain so fast. The lonely planet didn’t work at all. NO idea why suddenly the gps works so good. I hope it will work tomorrow. I wish I can change the km to mil because we here in USA use mill.
Luke, you can change to mile in settings. It has options of metric or imperial and you want imperial (meaning old english measurements).

the bloody liers said that it would come with the fw 21 upgrade… now i dont even think it exists… they probably just said it to make it look like theyre actually doing something…
oh and guess what… the s60v5 versions of Ovi Maps 3.03 are all the same for every phone they just wanted to milk the hype
Thanks Simon. I just changed the System of measurement.
Menu->Maps->Settings->Map->System of measurement->Imperial.
So far the GPS still work good. No problem getting the signal.

Just installed this on My N97 mini using the auto update when prompted inside the maps application. installation was succesfull APPARENTLY, however when rebooted phone it will not power on, I see the white nokia screen then after 30 sec it just goes off, battery is about 75% full
N97 still can not get the free life time navigation update.
Can you advise where to get it?
Tried with SW update in the application in my phone. Response : all appl. are updated.
But i only have the Maps 3.0 versin not the 3.03

I had Maps 3.0 installed and swupdate listed maps with navigation. I tried to install it but it failed and keeps saying the same thing.
No help from Nokia. Their products just seem difficult to use and install. I am thinkin of taking out a law suit against them and switching to Iphone now that its available on vodaphone.
Nokia are unhelpful and rude
