Apple requests US import ban on Nokia phones

Apple filed a new patent- infringement complaint against Nokia, seeking to block U.S. imports of mobile phones and increasing the legal battle between the two over smartphone technology.

Notice of the complaint was posted yesterday on the Web site of the U.S. International Trade Commission in Washington. Nokia, the world’s largest maker of mobile phones, filed its own complaint last month at the ITC, seeking to ban imports of Apple’s iPhone, iPod and MacBook products.

  1. This is funny because Apple can’t do that. Why?
Even if Apple is thinking that they are big and that everybody on this planet buy’s Apple’s products there is LAW to follow.
And that law is Competitiveness which is set by almost every country in the world.
Apple you better watch so you don’t be banned from rest of the world. Then what?.
yeah yeah, america is big but EU and Asia is bigger so you better watch up with your moves.

  2. asian did a good move with iphone.
    sell=almost zero

  3. What I also find funny is how you showed your bias by attacking Apple for doing this when it says that Nokia had already made a similar “request” against Apple! This Apple Vs Nokia thing is getting downright childish! Personally I just want a judge or panel to make a decision and get it over with. Will I be the first one to say this: Apple AND Nokia both suck! Rather than waste money on this childish squabble which I have a feeling will not be worth the time wasted arguing about; they should actually make their phones better! Nokia phones haven’t done anything revolutionary or even evolutionary in a very long time and Apple are just riding the iPhone euphoria bandwagon without making any major changes to the phone since the first one came out.

Both companies are fighting like little babies while their competitors are releasing some amazing stuff!

  4. @ Mark

You don’t seem to understand that it is impossible to create any working mobile phone whitout using technologies invented and patented by Nokia.

Apple is using those technologies whitout paying to Nokia like 40+ other manufactuirers do. So there is nio doubt at all that Apple is the one who is infringing patents.

You just showed your bias when you seem to think that Apple can freely steal from Nokia and Nokia should not protect it’s interests.

  5. it is not question about which company is right or wrong it’s all about american mentality. i’m sick off americans and america in general.
they think that they rule the world, well think again.
that is the mentality Apple have.
ex. we are americans and we can do what eve we like and delegate what ever company we like because we are americans. well guess again. i donät think you can delegate squat. all technology is in asia and guess again, we are americans doesnt work with asians specailly china. you farth you pay, thats it. america is not only super power and thats why i’m sick of americans. so if we talk the law and patent. if you want to respect the law and don’t pay large fine because of not paying the patent holder then you must pay but if you have attitude we are apple we are big and we are americans we can do what ever we like then you are going to be banned from the market. simple as that. there is law which is all over the world and that is the law of competition and not cartell like buisness then you must follow the law. and if you farth then guess what china and russia and even japan will anwsr your question. and by the way mark i don’t like nokia to but law is the LAW even for america

  6. I never said they can do what they like! I was responding the Punisher who said stuff about Apple, praising Nokia when Nokia had done the same thing in regards to the subject of this posting. Perhaps you need to read the post I made, I didn’t praise either of them, in fact I am criticizing them!

Personally, I don’t care if Apple owes Nokia or if Nokia owes Apple or whatever. These two companies seem to be locked in a battle that none of us should be concerned with because it will not improve the end user experience one bit! This IS a waste of money if you consider how these two companies are trailing behind Samsung, HTC and whatever who seem to really be pushing the limits. This lawsuit won’t benefit me and it won’t benefit you, it will just make Nokia’s fatcats richer and just more happy to keep the status quo while other companies climb over them. Meanwhile people will continue to buy Apple products, I don’t know why since they’re just overpriced paperweights but it’s like they have some hypno-type hold over consumers.

Anyways as for America being a superpower? well I think they stopped being one a few years back! There was nothing “super” about their handling of the wars they waged. All they did was make a bigger mess, that’s not what you expect from something you would call “super” don’t you agree?

  7. i agree with you.
for customers only concern is to be satisfied by the final product but you can’t ignore the tickle when you read from time to time about some moves companies make which are absurd.
that’s why i repond like that. it’s just irritating.
now big irony is that my nokia 6710 navigator which i have almost 1 month has broke down today. it want respond to direction buttons.
but i’m not mad about it becuase i know nokia thats the way it is.
i am more mad before i had this nokia i had flagship model of samsung which is i8910 and that was a bummer. i could not update that phone ever.
so yes you are right it’s all about customers satisfaction
but they don’t give that much about it.
