UK: Vodafone launches iPhone today

Vodafone has become the fourth operator to launch Apple’s iPhone today (14 January). The network follows Orange and Tesco Mobile, which both launched the device last year, breaking O2′s exclusive contract. Vodaphone has confirmed it will deliver over 50,000 iPhones today to customers who pre-ordered the device on-line. The figure does not include what is sold in stores today. CEO Guy Laurence said ‘the main reason for the exceptional demand was customers wanting to use the phone on its outstanding network’.

The four networks are all offering the phone at around the same price; however, Vodafone iPhone customers will get 1GB of 3G data included in their monthly payment. The offer beats the 750MB offered by Orange, but is not as good as O2′s package, which offers unlimited data.

Vodafone is offering the older iPhone 3G model free of charge on a £35 per month contract, with a £30, 24 month contract also available. Users will get up to 1GB of data included, and can also use Wi-Fi at home, work and on BT Openzone Wi-Fi networks.

The iPhone is available from Vodafone retail stores, online, via Apple retail outlets, Carphone Warehouse, Phones 4u and 20

  1. Makes me laught (outstanding network) what a joke,
Vodafone have awfull customer service, I got told that I was NOT a high priority customer and could not have a free upgrade at end of my contract even though I was paying £45/month. Needless to say I canceled my contract moved to o2 which i will say does not cover much 3g compared to vodafone.
Any vodafone staff looking here REMEMBER its us customers who pay your wages irrelivant if that customer spends £5/month or £500/month we should all be a high priority…..
