Now this is some good news for our Nokia readers. Apparently Nokia will sell more than 500 million handsets this year, above market expectations, a senior company executive told India’s Economic Times in an interview. In 2010, Nokia will ship over 500 million units across three platforms, which will be about 40 percent of the global market share.

Yeah, that’s pretty much like the coach of a football team saying they’re going to win the World Cup but the thing is, he can’t see the future and neither can Nokia. Of those 500 million phones, how many do you reckon will be high end? I bet 70-80% of that figure will be the cheap low end if they really do even sell 500 million
