The big head at Cupertino fire back. Apple countersues Nokia saying that “other companies must compete with us by inventing their own technologies, not just by stealing ours”. Apple is suing Nokia for infringing 13 Apple patents. According to the press release “Apple ignited the personal computer revolution in the 1970s with the Apple II and reinvented the personal computer in the 1980s with the Macintosh. Today, Apple continues to lead the industry in innovation with its award-winning computers, OS X operating system and iLife and professional applications. Apple is also spearheading the digital media revolution with its iPod portable music and video players and iTunes online store, and has entered the mobile phone market with its revolutionary iPhone”.
A woman in New York have sued Burger King for five million U.S. dollars – for a year of unwanted SMS advertising. She is claiming the company “acted like an ex-boyfriend who couldn’t take a hint: It repeatedly text-messaged her — with spam ads — although she told it to get lost.,”
Nokia’s Ovi Store is currently generating nearly one million downloads a day, according to George Linardos, the company’s VP of Product, Media. However, the company has already been working on a completely rebuilt version of the store, which is due to be launched next year.
“We’re doing just under one million downloads a day, and our download numbers are growing 100% month-on-month,” said Linardos, at a event in London.
Nokia has announced a new Comes With Music handset, the 5235. The phone has a 3.2-inch touchscreen, a two-megapixel camera, and all the company’s Ovi services – Ovi Store, Ovi Share, Ovi Maps and Ovi Contacts. Nokia is promising a battery life of 33 hours for music playback too, as well as integration with its unlimited music service. Users will get 12 or 18 months of Comes With Music, depending how and where they buy the handset. It’s due to ship in the first quarter of next year.

Skype has finally announced that they are ready to release a limited beta of their upcoming Symbian phones client, Skype for Symbian. This beta release of Skype for Symbian supports more than ten different handsets, with the production release planned to be compatible with even more phones. Please remember that it is a beta release, which means that the quality is not up to their “usual high standards”.
