Swype, announced $5.6 million secured funding in its swipe-input text technology by Nokia Growth Partners, Samsung Ventures, and returning investor Benaroya Capital.  While swype appears to be the first swipe input for forthcoming Nokia touch devices, applications such as SlideIT and ShapeWriter already exists for the iPhone, HTC’s, and Android. The Finnish telecom giant Nokia gets lowered credit ratings, from A to A-from Fitch ratings agency reports Bloomberg News. According to Bloomberg News, Fitch is concerned that the emerging market for smart phones is so competitive and that competitors like Apple and Research In Motion BlackBerry has such strong positions on the market. This means that Nokia may be difficult to achieve the profit margins they remained at historically.
