It’s impossible to build working mobile phone whitout using technologies invented and patented by Nokia. So there is no doubt at all that Apple violates Nokia’s patents when Apple don’t pay licenses!

So Apple seems to think that THEY can steal as much they want, and when they get caught they start to claim that thy are victims??

Well it is not the first time when Apple steals from others. How many of you think that mouse, windowed desktop environment and icons were invented by Apple?

Well it was not. Actually Steve jobs and his friends did steal the idea from Xerox. Xerox. They visited Xerox at Palo Alto. Xerox did have working prototype and quess what? Steve jobs copied the idea and released it as their own invention.

And by the way. Commodore did develop their own pre-emptive multirasking OS ( Amiga OS) at the same time Aple could not even multitask. Amiga OS did have full pre.-emptive multitasking starting from the first version, Apples OS was not able to multitask at all. And AmigaOS’s deskltop environment was much more advanced when compared to Apple’s.

Right now it seems to be most personal opinion. But its really fun to se a battle between Nokia-talibans and iPhone-talibans.

I My self use an E-71 for work, and a iPhone for fun. Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, HTC, yeah all of them are miles behind iPhone in feeling and Apps, and so on!

Apple is just a marketing company. They design a good looking and good selling product, then they call an asian manufacturer and tell em to make it.
But Nokia has the technical Engineers and the technical Skills to invent new technology.

See what Apple do and have been doing is the same for years. They pinch other people’s ideas and products. Put it through the ‘Apple Innovation’ machine and spill out an easy to use ‘human’ friendly product that looks nice.
Im not an Apple fan and not entirely slating off Apple products. They do produce nice looking, slick and easy to use interfaced devices but at the same time nick other people’s ideas and products. It is the fault of companies to not do it before them hence the huge claim that the iPhone is amazing but clearly when you think about it, it isnt!

Apple claim they invented the Capacitive multi-touch screen, wrong its been around for years just no one had put it on a phone.
Apple claim they had invented proximity sensors on phones, wrong Nokia have had that on one of their older phones.
Apple claim features such as voice dialling and picture messaging are innovative and fantastic new features. Are they?

I’m starting to really hate the Apple fan people though who claim that Apple are saviours and are far superior to everything and charge you about 10 x the cost of production and design. And worse of all, the media love the iPhone and call any other rival phones by the statement:

“Could this be the iPhone killer?”

End of the day, this suit will be a long long legal battle that will most likely end up in a out of court undisclosed settlement.

i wanna add sumthing. if these manufactures were smart, instead of sueing eachother they should share their ideas and developement to make better more stable systems in exponential progress. ive used all the different phone systems and ive chosen nokia as they ARE the pioneers in the mobile industry. iphone have the most stable OS but they lack personality. app this and app that, theres an app for going to chuck a shit. if it was up to me id get an iphone with winmo. and to the die hard nokia fans, next yr symbian os 2. cant wait!

Just take a look at the selling points of a iphone and a n900. Totally different worlds. Each caters to a different audience.

Sorry folks I’ve been a Nokia diehard for years and even I’m not that blinkered. Why do you people think Nokia are having to close down its flagship stores, and pay off a load of its workers? It isn’t because they have been producing great phones lately, its because they haven’t produced a decent phone since the N95.

Seriously folks take your head out of the clouds and look at the figures, Nokia is losing market share, and not only that its making financial loses where before it was making profit. That right there is the reality of the situation. It doesn’t matter how entrenched you are behind Apple or Nokia, it doesn’t alter the figures, Nokia are in trouble, its not just the threat from Apple but also RIM and Android, and besides the N900 Nokia simply doesn’t have an answer for them.

i also think its because most of the nokia fans waited for nokia to release a touch screen phone for too long and disappointed with the long wait, they crossed the border to the other side like lg and samsung. for shame ppl…
i waited for the n97 for 2 yrs and kept using my e65. and wen i got it i had to wait for fw 2 update and now i gotta wait till os2, so ill keep waiting.
im one of the ppl who will always support nokia. no matter wat happens ill stick it out.

Maybe if people had voted with their wallets instead of blindly buying something because of the Nokia badge, then Nokia might not be in the mess its in now. Nokia only started to react when its market share and profits started to decline, before that they were happy to keep selling the same sub par hardware.

Even now its flagship devices run on the same core hardware as its low end touch screen phones, and its not like its flagship devices are cheap. People should buy a product because that product is in fact good, not because the company who made it used to be good.

Nokia’s low end phones do not have touch screen, those don’t even have a Symbian.

And by the way don’t forget that world has suffered from global recession lately. If you look at the heavy losses made by many other mobile phone companies like Sony Ericsson then Nokia has actually survived quite well from this recession.

we dont buy a fone for its badge, we buy em coz we know that nokia has quality in its products and we know theyll take care of us.. take a look at tehkseven for example for wat he done to the n900 n its still good. put the iphone through the same n it wont get past the drop test properly.
i will never by anything coz of “hype” about the product. ill do research 1st. and the fact that ive used practically all the phone systems including the new toshiba tg01 and the old sagem phones, name 1 ive used it, and i still chose nokia speaks for it self.
sum ppl decide to follow the crowd and the media and sum ppl like to do the deciding for themselves.

Nokia invincible? Your either 10 years old or mentally challenged. Please take a look at Nokia’s 2009 finacial report, then tell me they are invincible. They are getting absolutely hammered financially, this is why they are paying off thousands of staff and closing down flagship stores.

While they might still have the lead in terms of market share, their profitability has fallen through the floor, they are now making substantial loses. Now look at Apples finacial report, they have made huge profits from just the iPhone alone, this has to be deeply embarrassing for Nokia. As to Sony Ericsson they were losing money well before the economy crashed so your example carries no water here.

Nokia’s low end touch screen phones are the 5800, 5530 etc, they all have touch screen and run on Symbian.

If thats why you buy Nokia phones then you’ve got serious problems. Nokia hasn’t produced quality phones since the N95 and it certainly doesn’t care about its customers, if it did then it wouldn’t keep palming them off with buggy phones running on under powered hardware.

looks like u hav hav selective reading coz i said, twise as i recall, ive used all the different phones.
and theres one lil whole in ur theory and it is that nokia has been working on the n97 way b4 they released the 5800 and also contemplating on the n98 full touch. they wated to perfect the n97 but then the gfc occured and they had to rush into selling it, which was, really, a whole yr too late. ppl either were happy with their current phone (those who dont care about features) or already bought a touch phone from another company (ie my post b4).
yes nokia made a mistake and theyre fixing it. yes they gotta close flagship stores and fire 1000s of employees, but if thats what it takes to save the company then do it.
u cant seriously say that the nseries fone are under par. only other contenders are htc and blackberry. (please no1 say lg coz its the biggest piece of crap fone manufacturer ive used). ud know this if u keep upto date.

ps. nokia has released a number of cheap fone to flood the market and ballance profits. untill then we’ll have to see what else they hav planned

Selective reading? Ok let me put it this way, if you were lying about always buying Nokia no matter how bad it gets and those were pretty much the words you used, then why should I believe anything else you have said? Consistency is the key here, you are flip flopping all over the place.

And how is that a “whole” as you put it in my theory? It doesn’t matter if Nokia had been working on the N97 for the last decade, it still runs on the same crap hardware as the 5800 and its even cheaper spin offs, if Nokia really cared even a little it wouldn’t be selling low end hardware at premium prices, would it?

Paying off the workers who make the phones isn’t going to save Nokia, its the people responsible for running the company that need to go, they are the ones who have been making the bad decisions. Fire the people who brought us N Gage and Ovi store.

You can’t seriously think N Series aren’t bellow par, the core hardware is a 434Mhz cpu with absolutely no GPU support, I can buy a T Mobile Pulse (Huawei U8220) here in the UK for a quarter of the price I’d pay for an N97, but the Pulse has a 528Mhz CPU and double the RAM, not to mention the OS is far superior to S60v5.

You should probably brush up on real world economics, as you aren’t grasping how it works. Flooding the market with cheap phones would only balance profit if they were actually making enough profit on said cheap phones, but they aren’t and thats why they are having to pay off thousands of staff. Nokia is only keeping market share buy selling cheap phones, but it isn’t making much money by doing so. In contrast Apple are selling less but making huge amounts of profit.

I’m sorry but being good at destroying a phone doesn’t rank high on my list of worthwhile qualities, maybe its because I’m an adult and as such these things are just a little bit sad.
