Wow! I´m impressed! The phone is 1.5 years old and they still makes FW updates.

yeah, unlike with the Sony Ericsson phones that stops getting firmware updates after 4-6 months

when i make a fw-update all my data will be gone, right? do i need to install all programs again or is this included in a backup?? how about calendar dates??

You will lose everything on the phone you put on there, so you must back up everything, including all your calendar and contacts. Plus you will have to reinstall all your apps again.

One thing I realized when I upgraded my girlfriends E71 was that the new GPRS-settings was set to TELE2 in Norway and not Sweden. So I guess Nokia made a mistake there. The default APNs are faulty set for Sweden Tele2

Mail for Exchange is not an integrated part of firmware. Is it?
Instead it is a separate download.
I can not find Mail for Exchange 2.9.176, but only 2.9.158.
Anyone can help to clarify? Thanks in advance!

As posted by Phat^Trance in DailyMobile above, the Mail for exchange updated to v2.9.176 in v400.21.013. The installation sis file (signed eas.sis) is in phone memory after the firmware update.

v400 is bundled with few other softwares e.g. youtube, facebook, my space, ovi store and ovi contacts (which may be downloaded and installed separately) thus taking up more phone memory space compared to previous firmware (around 5 Mb more I guess).

So far feel that the ovi store client is faster than before (I installed and deleted the ovi store when in previous firmware as I’m not too interested in the ovi store contents and loading quite slow then). So far no problem with the ovi contacts but as I dont intend to use it, tried to delete or uninstalled the ovi contacts from the phone but been unsuccessful.

Nokia messaging much simple and easier to setup now.

I actually have E63, but I believe it is same basis as E71 and E66.
Even the firmware update for these three models is same numbered as 400.21.013

I confirm about other sofware e.g. Youtube, Facebook, MySpace, Ovi Store, and Ovi Contacts but I could not find the Mail for Exchange v2.9.176.

I browsed the phone memory by using built-in File Manager and ProfiMail but without success.

Can you please inform where is it exactly located?

After the firmware update, I see that I am just not able to get rid of the pesky Ovi Store client, which I never intend to use. Just a useless program that hangs around even though I have removed it via the Application Manager. And uses up space. Any ideas how to get rid of it?

My Nokia Software updater does not show any new firmware available. It says i have the latest one installed and it is 300.1…..etc.
Plz help how to update to 400…

Yeah, it’s good to know that Nokia continues to provide firmware upgrades for E71. I would love if they would also include menu transition effects on the next firmware update.

Well, if I am not mistaken, Nokia E66 came with transition effects unlike Nokia E71 knowing the fact that they have same operating system and feature pack.

i hav nokia e71 and i am unable to find firmware 400… My phone has firmware 300… And updater shows tht it is the latest one. Is the firmware awailable on nokia india site??? Somebody please help me so tht i can upgrade to firmware 400…

Yes the firmware 400 is available on India site.. get it thru the PC suite. I just updated it today..

and yeah… to a query above.. well the 400… update is enabled to a very few handsets around the world..u first have to get it checked on the nokia site whther yr handset is the available for the upgrade

I m having a 300 version of firmware, i have no issue on my fone and my battery timing is 2.5 days with 5-6 hours of talk time during these days. i was trying to update my firmware to 400 after reading the additional features.

BUT BUT BUT i have read in my threads that after updating the firmware 400 the battery time least upto only one day. many ppl have posted this comment.

So now i am not updating the firmware. cuz i am happy with my 300 version as i have no problem…

I am using E71x, but unhappy with applications, can I update it with firmware v400, and off course I can’t do it through “Update Phone Software”, if I find it can I install it through PC suite “Install Application”? any one experienced / knows please advice me.

Does some of you have a problem with wlan? I upgraded my E71 but I have a problem with wlan. After successful or not-successful connection I have wlan sign in upper right corner. And it stays there very long, until it removed I can not connect again.

to those who want to update their firmware to v.400:

first, you should try to use the “update” feature from nokia ovi suite if nokia software updater said your firmware (the v.300) is the latest firmware..

if the ovi suite still fails, then maybe the v.400 software for your region or country has not been available yet.. nokia releases the software update based on the phone default region (like APAC (asia pacific, china), EUR (europe), etc.. i believe the updates will be available soon..

and if no updates are available in short time and you cant wait anymore, try to install your firmware using the 3rd party installer, i dont know much about this manual firmware installation stuff but if i’m not wrong, you can try to go to:

I am unable to upgrade my firmware to the v400… I tried both the NSU and the OVI but in the middle of the installation it always say that it has lost its connection to my device and I did restart my phone several times but still the same… I am unable to upgrade it… please help!

btw, it also gives a message that it’s unable to install from memory card… do I have to free up the phone memory space?

Hi, my e71 always gives me the message cant install from the memorycard, when the phone restarts. I am told to go to the install menu but there are no programs on the memorycard and nothing to correct.

And, I installed Spotify on my e71 some days ago. After syncronized several melodies approx 100 the phone deleted a lot on my phone. Maps are deleted. Spotify are deleted. Music liberary are deleted. And more. Strange… And I dont know what to do to reset everything. Any tips?
