This video shows that the N900 doesn’t dynamically re-focus but it doesnt use a standard focus setting. It uses the first focus that it obtains. Watch the video to see the issue and remember that videos can be stopped, re-focused and continued. Having the ability to set a focus makes it better than most true fixed-focus lenses.

The same can be done on a HTC Hero.
This phone sucks. I’m sticking with my Motorola 5200, I think it’s the best phone you can get nowadays.
