    1. Upgrade in progress…

    2. Whats up with the UK relase?! why the hell do we have to wait longer?!

    3. William Allen says:

Oh well no sign of v2.0 here in the UK. Lovely!

    4. Finally!! Had no problem updating on Swe N97. Kinetic scrolling is very smooth!

    5. no update in germany :( (((

    6. No update in the Netherlands :-(

    7. oooh..there is one in germany…but you can´t download it with
*#0000#…you have to go to the sw update and than upgrate via pc…fuck I have a mac :(

    8. Use NSS to get the new firmware

    9. helloOX2 hacked OK?

    10. nobodyshearing says:

i cant access the forum what is going on?

    11. nobody –> it crashed since it got incoming links from a few huge tech sites :)
im working on restoring it, but the http server still getting hammered with http request

    12. check the forum post when it is backup, heloox2 fails to install after a hard reset but you can still install unsigned apps using the signsis-gui method

however c2z and rom patcher dont seem to work in our early tests

it appears to just be at firmware level so flashing to v12, installing heloox and then re-updating to v2.0 can get the hack back on (if you hard reset you will have to go through this process again)

    13. nobodyshearing says:

      its back up thx :D

    14. Hi, What happens with the app downloaded?
      Still there or all erased?
I’m afraid for all the games I bought…

    15. Bloody Hell now I really pissed of by 3 in UK, its shows me no update available. when i called them they were trying to convince me that i can update by pc suite it will show me the same version 11.0.021 but it has flex version which is new version 2 they all bloody bastard wants to make you full.

    16. How do you know that is in progress…….?

    17. Bhalal Jhader says:

OK install on a UK RM (505) – 1st impressions – not impressed – sluggush – but the KS issa nice touch.

    18. Still nothing in the Netherlands!
      Still using 12.0.026 damn
      1

    19. Its out in sweden

    20. no v2.0 in australia

    21. William Allen says:

Well I ended up changing the product code using an application I downloaded from the web. This allowed me to get v20, but was a bit of an effort as Nokia updater would not install on my PC, due to my OS being Windows 7. I had to go and use my mother-in-laws PC.

To be honest I don’t notice that big a difference with the scrolling but what is different is the stability. I still run out of memory after a few hours with Nokia Messaging Email setup, but unlike with firmware v12 the phone just switches to different memory to allow messaging! Also once I reset the memory to be used for storing messages to the D drive the problem disappeared. This was not the case with the older firmware, under which only a reset would allow messages etc to be read or sent. So far so good, but this being an N97, I am sure something else will rear its head.

    22. “Upgrade your N97 software now” – I would Nokia, but I’m in the UK and you haven’t released it yet!!!

Since the day I purchased this one I’ve been furious and dissapointed both at the same time. It is horrible out dated cheap rubbish and Nokia’s firmware roll out policy is a complete joke.

      One word – iPhone.

    23. Well changing the product code is sweet cos it puts u first in line. Got my update yesterday afternoon.
Scrolling is great, but thats the only real difference i’ve noticed… anyone else?

    24. William Allen says:

K A Hinds, the biggest difference is that the phone is more stable. I was unable to use Nokia Messages (ie better email program) under the old firmware as withing 6 or so hours the phone would run out of memory. The only fix was to do a hard restart with all the lost settings etc that caused. Under the new firmware that has not been necessary, and I have had Nokia Messages running for almost 24 hours now. To be honest I have not noticed any difference with the scrolling!

    25. james hayman says:

@ william allen. Whats tthe name of the software you used to change the product code? Please let me know as i wish to do the same :-D thank you

    26. Luis Antunes says:

Yes! Some of us updated to V20 but no phone calls (incomming or outgoing) are allowed. Has anyone placed calls after V20?

    27. William Allen says:

Hi James, the software is called NSS.

    28. William Allen says:

Luis, yes I can still make and recieve calls with v20.

    29. Found problems:
      - fails to start if you change the language from settings
      - single click on links in ovistore. scrolling becaomes problem.

    30. William Allen says:

I had exactly the same problem with Ovi Store with v12 firmware.

    31. Hey everyone, before I updated to v20 my car handsfree worked just fine, but once updated, I just can’t connect to the device more than a few seconds. What’s even worse, the bloody phone stays in the car handsfree mode, so if I get a call, I can’t hear anything the the far end person cannot hear me. I need to restart the phone to get back to normal mode. When I turn on the car, same thing happens, so basically I had to turn off the BlueTooth. SO; DON*T UPDATE JUST YET!

    32. Still nothing in Holland

    33. Luis Antunes says:

Thanks William. I performed a full reset and I got both calls & wifi back.
Later I reinstalled the WeFi app and tried to use it. By coincidence or not I lost calls again.
Another full reset and so far so good. Didn’t try installing Wefi again.

    34. i want 2 run the nokia software updater on win 7
      how can i do that?

    35. i recently installed the update today, and i cannot make calls or receive them. wifi works which is weird that it does. I receive an error message :’ No calls allowed’

      help!

    36. No update in Singapore either :(

    37. No update in India… sucks. Now I’m wondering if other updates are a hoax..

    38. JUST LISTEN says:

Basically it’s NOT DONE BY REGION, its done by your service PROVIDER.
Nokia released in on Wednesday and that was avaliable to all generic (sim-free) devices. As for those from/branded by a service provider (T-mobile, orange, o2, or 3 etc) you have to wait for them to “check them over” or add their programs to it and then they will release it.

      annoying i know

    39. Luis Antunes says:

      To Kat.
I solved it performing a full reset.
You have to backup your contacts before you do so as they will be erased, just like all other info and applications stored in drive C.
btw: do you have WeFi or any other wifi manager app installed?

    40. to Luis.
my phone will not perform a full reset. and it crashes when trying to open some folders on the phone aswell.

i have some wefi access, but not consistent. weird.

      thanks for your help

    41. to Luis..
oops sorry. i have a wifi manager installed. yes

    42. showing no v20 updates in india .anyone tell me where i can update my n97 from v12 to v20.

    43. Still showing no v20 updates in HongKong .anyone tell me where i can update my n97 from v12 to v20.

    44. Basically it’s NOT DONE BY REGION, its done by your service PROVIDER.

    45. Hi,

I have version 12.0.026 and its an unbranded N97 black. it seems that firmware version 12.0.026 cannot update to V20 for some reason if I change my product code to the generic European code it still shows no updates available ! by the way I am located in Sweden if that has anything to do with the fact that i cant update.

has anyone succeded updating to V20 from 12.0.026 NOT 12.0.024 ?

      Thanks,
      Jwalk

    46. wen is this out in the uk

    47. i would call n97 support and tell them about it. its what i did and they told me about it

    48. William Allen says:

Jwalk, I was on 12.0.026, changed my product code to the European code and it found and installed v20 just fine. The only problem is that it has to be done using a PC, and as I had just upgraded my PC to Windows 7, the Nokia Software updater wouyld not install, so I had to go and use a relatives Windows XP based PC to do the update. I can also confirm that everything has worked fine, wifi, calls, bluetooth etc since the upgrade. The only thing is that the Ovi store app is hard to scroll in, but as I said above, it was just the same under 12.0.026.

    49. how to change my n97 product code to European code plz tell in detail

    50. Weird…i get “Refreshing failed. Try again later.” But my internet on mobile seems to work just fine..

    51. Managed to install NSU on my Mac running W7 by right-clicking the installation file, selecting properties, then choosing Vista from the compatibility pulldown menu.

No v20 for generic UK handsets yet though :(

    52. William Allen says:

Latest is my phone just offered me a new version of the Ovi Store application (v1.05) which has fixed the scrolling problem. kevshav, there is a software package called NSS, which you can download. This allows you to change the code of your phone. This website (see v20 forum) lists the various product codes for which the v20 update is available. You can get instructions plus a link to the program here: http://thesymbianblog.com/2009/07/02/how-to-change-the-product-code-on-a-n97-nokia-5800/

    53. Steve Johnson says:

Can one save internet pages with the new v20 update? Furthermore can one index (ie call up the required page by typing the title) the saved pages? Does spell checker come with the package?

    54. how do you change your product code to the European code???????????
      any1

    55. William Allen: hmmmmmm… weird i didnt not get the update i was on a pc, and i managed to install the ovi store and the updating software on my windows 7 machine, you just need to set it into windows xp sp3 compatiility mode, you need to do that on the EXE file in order for it to install then you need to do it on the installed application, it is always good to run it as an admin as it uses alot of interfaces in the machine and to make sure nothing is blocked.

I will give it another try tonight .. lets hope for the best :)

chris011: changing the product code happens to be also called (Unbranding) i dont know if i am allowed to post links over here, but i am sure a simple google search “N97 unbranding” would give you what you want … just be sure to use the product code that matches you location.

    56. William Allen says:

chris011, see my post above which gives a link to the page that tells you how and also has a link to download the software needed. I have now done this with a second N97 (that my wife has just got to replace her N95. Now that we have v20, and have updated ovistore, everything on the phone now works perfectly. Great improvement.

    57. At last v2.0 is available in India as well.

    58. When when when when ….will the v20 is available in Hong Kong. The Code is 0586303. Thanks for telling me if someone know !!!!!!!!
