It looks Nice ,,
But Still WINDOWS ..
!
Why the hell did you poste that vid? There are shown figures only!! Even the HD2 has a Snapdragon Proccessor it is much slower (e.g. when you are browsing) than the iPhone! And this shows to me the iPhone has a much better OS – and that’s the important thing! I’m not a iPhone-jerk (I don’t own one) but please… this is such a subjective vid (“Sorry iPhone users” ) so I think this site is not the right place for publishing it… This is no comparison, this is make one bad and declare the other as winner althougt I bet the creator of this vid didn’t have the HD2 in hands yet!!
That’s sad.
@yep ..
You are totally ritght .. ^.^
HTC-windows
iPhone- iPhone OS (sorry htc users)… No, really. These are stupid comparisons and maybe hardware wise, the htc seems superior. But the part which made laugh the most was: htc has a better camera just for the 5 vs 3mp. The better cameras out there are the outrageous 12mp found in the new Sony Ericsson. I’d challenge the guy who made this video to find a phone with better image quality than the iPhone except for the news SE.
guys chill, its just a spec comparison vid, its not a matter of life and death
regarding the camera, the HTC HD2 actually has a better camera, at least when comparing the pics thats available on the web
i agree with Trance! its just a video thats probably was made by a windows mobile user. But still, the specs are amazing on the HD2. Pity that it runs on windows mobile!
no matter how much you say, iPhone processing speed and user interface is far better then windows. i bought windows mobile once, but that will be the LAST. i cant even stand the user interface after few hours of usage.
@Phat^Trance – Regarding the camera, I beg to differ:
HTC – http://www.slashgear.com/htc-hd2-5mp-camera-gets-reviewed-distinctly-average-1259864/
iPhone – http://www.flickr.com/photos/andyi/sets/72157619833958006/
Chill down guys,
just a specs video from a windows mobile fanboy
the hardware of the HTC is much better, but like a lot of you said and know, the windows os sucks big time.
i thought the HTC HD2 would get a Android os, but sadly it doesnt.
So sadly enough, great hardware, but the os fucked it up
Seems like none of you played with an HD 2. I had the luck to try a beta version last week : it REALLY blows the iPhone away regarding web browsing experience !!
The screen is incredible, the system is at least as responsive as iPhone OS on 3GS, if not even faster, and HTC filled very well WinMo interfaces holes with Sense (and Sense goes way beyond that).
The HD 2 is the new king, and you will see this when you will try it for yourself. Btw i wasn’t expecting much from it software-wise, and it badly kicked my ass : this will be my next phone.
The main problem and strenght of winmo is that phone makers can make it shine of blow, and HTC made lot of mistakes un the past. But this new one is REALLY way better than the iPhone. The only point where the iPhone is WAY beyond is the AppStore, as Microsoft’ own Marketplace is new.

Sorry but lot of phone, and even 3 years old ones like the N95 are WAY better than the iPhone regarding the Camera… And of course i’m not talking about megapixels, but the photo quality itself. iPhone camera lens and sensor are so average, so is the one on the HD 2 btw. At least the HD 2 has its dual led flashinglight.
Haha funny how Rolinski thinks that Iphone 3gs camera is outstanding..
Wake up??
(Btw .. getting my Iphone 3gs prolly tomorrow.)
Emsa –> congrats! the iPhone 3gs is a great phone when its jailbroked
1. IPHONE IS FOR LADYS, WHO GOT EASY ACESS AND YOU DON`T NEED TO THINK EVERYTHING IS INTUITIVE.
2. ANYTHING BEFORE HT D2, LIKE OMNIA TWO OR SONY X1, X2 IS BETTER THAN THE IPHONE!
3. THE MOST OF PEOPLE BUY BOOKS BY THE COVER, THEY DON`T REALLY KNOW WHAT IS INSIDE, THE IPHONE SKIN LOOKS GREAT BUT HIS BONES IS WEEKY AND HIS SOUL IS BIG SHIT!
4. THE HTC HD2 IS JUST THE NEW GENERATION OF MOBILE PHONES, EVERYTHNG ON THE PAST WAS KIDS TOYS, IS JUST FANTASTIC, AMAZING, NOW I FEEL WE START TO GET IN ON THE 21 CENTURY.
5. NICE VIDEO BRO…IF IS SOME PEOPLE OUT THERE, THAT DON`T UNDERSTAND THINGS OR DON`T LIKE TO GIVE UP,( IPHONE USERS TO START)! UAHUAHHAHHAU F…ALL….THEM!!!!!
You Windoze haters forgot the HD2 has the Opera browser and HTC Sense. Go to the HTC Sense presentation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MchNr8TagNU&feature=channel
Have you ever had a battery problem? HD2 – replaceable – I always carry a spare in my pocket.
Expansion slot – nice to have certain files on a removable compatible media.

WELL, the truth is truth and it only has one version. No doubt that the iphone was a hit, but i we begging to talk about better phones out-there than the iphone was old school before it even came out. do research and comparison and you’ll see. In addition if u use the iphone to text message and calls then u r ok. but the things u can do with windows phone are endless(just check the app store for wm dating years back. apple was introducing ipods when windows was able turn a phone a mobile pc with camera(video), bluetooth, picture viewer, touch screen. Not to mention the hacks that are possible. those of you new to tathering; windows been doing it for years….. gps……windows was first than the average phone many gears ago….music videos……years ago as well, this is just a summary…..forgive my grammar i did it in a hurry..
But the truth is the truth….. whether u like htc/windws or iphone is just a matter of taste, any phone is good as long it satisfies ur needs…
If touch HD 2 was an andriod handset then it would be a no contest as hd would beat iphone hands down in every aspect other then apps. It is a real shame htc have chosen to go with windows, but nevertheless as far specs are concerned touch hd2 is a superior device. However if one is only interested in apps then iphone is far better as it is it’s main selling point, remove the apps and what does the iphone offer? Having owned an iphone IMHO not much in comparison to HD 2. I suppose there are many reasons why one would choose HD 2 over an iphone(screen size, processor, multi functional, better resolution, windows compatabile etc the list goes on and on but there is only one reason why one would choose an iphone (applications) over HD 2 for many that is a good enough reason, not for me though.
hi everyone. i can’t really say much about htc hd2 since never played with one; but i wuold liek to compare things as a htc phone user. i am using a htc hd now and my previous phone was a dopod d810 (htc p3600). also have some iphone play time, correct me if i am out of line against iphone.
my main reason (i guess pros) for choosing htc phones over iphones is the integrated gps adapter. all other phones only have a-gps, as far as i know. second reason is office mobile. touch flo3d looks nice. weather and stock is good. music player sounds fine.
i don’t use push emails or play games. can’t speak to those things. here are the cons of hd:
- browsing scripted pages slow at times using wifi
- disappointed no flash player lite
- UI definitely hands-down iphone is the best in the world and hd not so hot…frustrating at times
- no apps …some useful apps could be great (like free parking lookup, tunes recognizer?, compass now added to hd2) but i don’t really need bs apps like bugs repellent, white noise machine, or lighter
- divx vids (core player) jittery at times
- HORRIBLE camera (slow focus, terrible sensor, don’t even try video)
- to-do task don’t show up at “home” like before…calendar events do tho
- things look primitive sometimes
iphone: seems like it’s popular amongst girls as one person stated. probably cuz the look and ease of use. just like ipod, there are many mp3 players can do the same thing, why ipods? it’s just marketing. i also find some iphone apps a bit…childish…they are cute but definitely geared towards certain groups…teenage girls? yes it’s easy to use but wm isnt too bad once you have played with it a few times. my difficulty with winmo is compounded cuz i need to use the chinese version and i am not fluent in windows terms in chinese. will have less trouble in english definitely.
despite all the cons, i would still buy a htc phone, very likely the hd2. i didn’t say because it uses winmo. i said htc phone. if android would help things, that’s better then. also 4.3″ screen!! gps and office mobile again, flash lite..finally, faster processor, apps?? also individuality, i don’t wnat to use the same phone as old grandmas and grandpas do. i did recommend the iphone to two of my coworker. guess what? one is a girl and one is a 50-year guy can barely work his emails.
Alright..I must say I loved this video..I think the htc hd2 is definitely gonna make the iphone a thing of the past.. Of course it will have its loyal customers on their rediculous phone plan. This video was great beacuse it laid out straight to the fact specs not opinions. But like I said before this is gonna make the Iphone a thing of the past, am pretty sure the guys at Apple already realize this..Betta get to work……….
Wait wait wait!!
You say that between 3mpx and 5mpx there is not difference.
But HTC has flash, and the Iphone what?
Htc is way better and nicer than Iphone. Iphone´s interface may be a little bit faster than Htc but that doesn´t mean Winmobile 6.5 in that 1ghz processor isn´t enough.
sorry for my english guys.
and OOOh please, look at that 4,3´´ screen and ITS RESOLUTION…
Well in fact it is like comparing a Nokia N80 (2,1´´ aprox.) vs Nokia 5530 (2,9´´)
Sorry Iphone users who think that their mobile phones are the best.
Before anyone goes gaga over the camera specs, let’s see the results. I would like to see a comparison between the Omnia II and the HD2, both with 5 Mpxl cameras; but with Omnia II’s software enhancement. Neither one has been given a thumbs up on picture results. But then, they are phones, aren’t they? Wait till someone shells out their money and gives us their user’s opinion.
The other spec comparison that has not been resolved are the displays. The numbers are the same but, the visual impression of The Omnia II with a AMOLED resistive screen and the HD2 with a ‘large’ TFT capacitive screen must be different. There have been complaints of the Omnia II’s display being unreadable in sunlight, but brilliant indoors. No comments have been made on that with the HD2. Which pluses and minuses can we resolve? These are the two WinMo touch-screen giants in my opinion.
Notice I don’t even mention Iphone, it’s old hat now!
hey as i said i played with the HD2.
About the Omnia II vs HD2 : there’s no competition there, Samsung interface looks a bit dated and the design and screen are a light year away from the HD2. The HD2 IS an incredible phone, trust me once you try you want to get one.
The screen size is a way bigger step forward than just 0,5 inches : it’s NOT AMOLED which means it’s way more readable in the sunlight, it’s capacitive and looks way more high end than OMNIA II ones, and the multitouch aspect is nice too.
Don’t get it wrong : HD2 hardware part is impressive but it’s just half of HD2 greatness ! I mean the software association of WinMo 6.5 and HTC Sense is THAT GOOD !! HTC fixed WinMo flaws in a way that this phone interface make the iPhone looks old. WinMo 6.5 menu and standby screen is as good as iPhone OS ones, but beyond this the OS is not only an application launcher as the iPhones OS is. Which means HTC comme put it’s own bits of code where they wanted too, replacing windows contacts by their own solution, same thing with the dialer, etc. And of course there’s the great inclusion of HTC Sense, which looks at first like TouchFlow 3D but it’s way beyond it too with looks of improvments AND the support of social networks (facebook, twitter) within the interface itself.
Just try it asap, you won’t be desapointed. Best phone of 2009 !!!
This is crappy vid, i like windows mobile based mobile but i have to agree this is just poooooor, even if iphone have smaller mega pixel on cam, it has more frame rate !! that is what counts!!
AZERI4LIFE, DO ME A FAVOR BRO…..SHOUT FUCKER YOUR MOUTH, YOU EVEN DON`T KNOW WHAT TIME IS IT! IPHONE IS RUBISH, I HATE IPHONE ( LOOSERS) LOL, APPLE IS FOR LADYS AND FAGGOTS!
Children htc does seems to have better specifications…But it lacks the most important thing in the world…Appstore baby…
Nicholas,
I believe you need to try a Google search on “windows mobile software downloads”, formerly Windows CE or Pocket PC (try Wikipedia for the history). Yes, before ‘smartphones’, there where handheld computers. What do you think doctors and engineers where carrying around? No, not iPods, they had scientific applications that were useful to their field on their Pocket PCs.
The WinMo ‘appstores’ are not on one page, there are hundreds of sites and thousands of programs. We have been using handhelds for years before Apple brought on the bells and whistles. But thanks Apple for showing us a pretty face, er interface, we did need that.
Don’t be intimidated by Mauro’s limited vocabulary, he is probably a WinMo gamer. It’s amazing how children get possessive with new toys.
Loaddown,
i really prefered if htc hd2 came with android since i dnt like winmo…Another bad thing is that i own mac and i asked htc about hd 2 and they told me is not compatible with mac…
HTC HD2 runs on windows, and u guys think its a bad thing? Are you out of your minds? Do you get microsoft office on the Iphone? HTC runs on Windows, thats a huge aventage. Windows is much faster on working, if your a business man, would you want microsoft office on your phone so you dont have to bring your laptop everywhere with you, a iphone where the browser is slower?
“HTC HD2 runs on windows, and u guys think its a bad thing? Are you out of your minds? Do you get microsoft office on the Iphone? HTC runs on Windows, thats a huge aventage. Is that a joke comment? iphone does have microsoft office and dude, iphone web browser is alot faster compare to your window os. stop living in the mountain. you have to come down and have a walk. (:
You should all have a go on both and make your minds up for yourself. So stop argueing get off your laptops and go to the shops and try them against each other. The new HD2 is a very good phone so don’t knock it till you’ve tried it. I have one and my friend has the iphone 3gs and we have sat there trying to compare the two. Not gonna tell you our findings as you all seem sure the iphone will win hands down. I do like both for different reasons so i’m actually undecided on this one. It may well be that the android os would have been better for this phone but it is still very strong and its not on there so you’ll have to keep dreaming on that one. htc will probably bring out a similar phone with the android os too so lets keep dreaming. videos do look great in that 4.3 inch screen though
Guys, reading your comments doesnt give me any clue bout which one is the better phone. I think if we say “better” it will be depending on our needs. Some of you said that winmo do have a lot of application just like Iphone is right! nothing wrong about that. Some of you also said Iphone dont have a replaceable battery is also right, and its sucks. Some of you said that HTC have a better hardware, it also correct.
Maybe the question is not which one is the better phone, but “which one is the best phone for you”.
Me myself prefer to use Iphone, why? just like some of you said before. its very easy to use! Does this means I dont like a challenge and not a type of guy who like to explore my phone? NO! I just dont want to put myself in a misery when i have urgent thinngs to do while in the other hand I have to search a specific data that I store in some program in a hurry, Iphone can help me with that because its user friendly and have an extremely quick response interface. About the battery, well I dont care i have an external protable charger that I buy for 20 dollar, its very handy and I always bring it everywhere. Camera? well if i want a good picture I never use my phone, no matter how big is your megapixel the really important thing is the CCD size, for this part my Ixus100IS always be a better choice. What else? Iphone is for girls?heheheh silly. iphone GPS and Compass also meet my expectation, however if you want a better GPS then buy A GPS. There is no sort of things like Multi Purpose Gadget that have a perfect quality. a phone is a phone.
And why do you guys have a fight about screen resolution? both have their own power. HTC is bigger and higher in res (this will make you easy in reading a small letter) but Iphone have more colour then HTC, and it makes the photo a lot more beautiful. Btw have you read the review about HTC HD2 on GSMARENA.COM? its screen is very weak under the sunlight.
So can we stop this silly fight and go to the store, pick the best phone for us. Dont listen to other people comment because who knows best for you is your self.
The HD2 is beautiful even better looking than the iPhone and my colleague has got one, but where are the Apps? That is where the iPhone wins, hands down.
Ok so apps Phil? I take it you do not know how to search for things on the internet? There are millions of apps for the HTC HD2 far more than the iphone, people like the iphone be cause it is a simpletons phone, everything is simple a 1 year old flea could use one. HTC phones are for the more intelligent breed of human, the ones who do not follow the flock and by what they want and not what they are told they want.
HD2 outclasses the iphone in all areas, you cannot say the the browser is faster because it has been compared in many videos and they are exactly the same. You can run multiple programs at the same time on the HD2 and the phone does not even flinch it has way more power than it needs. The screan resolution and size make it the BEST phone on the market for watching movies or reading. Why do you think its called the HD2?
HTC have excelled themselves in creating a phone that is flexible enough for anyones needs business or not.
iphone users buy things because they are shiney
I just want to put my views down over here too.
I’ve been owning HTC phones since P3300 Artemis. Phones I owned from HTC are: P3300, P3600, TyTN II, and Touch Diamond. My bro owned the P3300, Touch Cruise, Touch Diamond 2, and the HD. That was a HUGE array of HTC phones there. I personally didnt have problems with software and could easily find apps that i wanted. The problems were mostly based with the sluggish OS. I do not ever recall an HTC phone freezing in WM, however i admit i have witnessed this with my Iphone 2g 8gb. And that is a jailbroken phone running 3.1.2 Some other problems i had with the HTC phones though, were the built quality of the external casing of the phones. For example P3300 was more robust than the P3600 that would easily get scratched or broken if it fell down. But every now and then the phone would get scratched need a new faceplate, etc. Also the screen on HTC phones was being scratched even if you had it in your pocket. For example my bro bought the HD and he dropped the phone while getting out of the car and the screen was smashed immediately. The Iphone can take more beating than the HTC i think. Also i remember the Diamond was being on fire when working with it for a couple of minutes. It was getting very very hot all the time. Speaker volume on the HTC phones i had was in no way comparable to the Iphones. I could use the old Iphone in the car as handsfree with the speaker on and could hear loud and clear whereas on the Diamond i could hear almost nothing. I don’t remember the HD though much. Another thing with HTC WM based phones was that i had my phone syncronised all the time on different computers. It had some glitches in Vista where the PC would not recognize the phone however job was done with a little effort. On the other hand the Iphone is easily (always i would say) synchronized with iTunes and from there on can be synced with Outlook, etc. One problem i’ve been confused with though was that it was giving me a hard time when synchronized with two different computers and with apps i was getting of appulous and cydia. If i remember right if i didnt have all the apps present on the phone in my iTunes apps galerry it would erase them from the phone. So it was confusing.
Right now i am about to buy a new phone and i am leaning towards the Iphone. I know the HD2 is better phone than the 3GS, however i like the usability of the Apple OS more. I got tired of buying every gadget that comes out every 2-3 months. I want to settle with something i can carry in my pocket which is less complicated but fun to deal with a simple click of an icon. Email is there, GPS is there, wifi is there, nice touch screen is there, multiple language support in sms is there. I dont think i need anything more than these. I am sure my bro will dump his 3GS 32GB for the new HD2, and that is the reason i am getting that Iphone for sure. Some things never change.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2010 to you ALL!!!
Thanks Orys for the details of your rationale. So many keep wanting the newest, biggest, most expensive; showy without a logical reason for it. You chose simple, but functional for your needs.
I am influenced by Apple’s marketing history, they kicked me to the curb away back when they dropped support for the Apple 2, when the Mac came out. We are all expendable. You have to have Apple fever and deep pockets for their products.
Now, in my case, I have to have WM for certain programs, so I have narrowed it down to the HD2 or an Omnia II. I am fighting myself between resistive and capacitive screens. The HD2 must be secured/protected from bumps with it’s glass screen and requires a specialized stylus for my use, but oh that display size… ‘biggest’. Oh excuse my emotions. The ‘Sense’ interface is a plus, it seems and I think there are more hacks for HTC.
Oh well it’s only a phone/computer/multimedia/navigator companion we are talking about! I narrowed it down to what stylus HTC comes out with from their patent (don’t reply with a comment on Clove’s impersonator, HTC has already told me that they have not produced one yet). How’s that for rationale??
I have both the iPhone 3GS & HTC HD2 (working for a mobile provider has it’s perks) and have tested both phones until they were exhausted…
Depending what a person wants from a phone will drive your decision to what you buy. I must admit, I was very anti iPhone when it came out, 3Gs’ biggest selling point was MMS, compass and enhanced security, at a time when MMS was a standard with even cheap SE’s & Nokias… The apps store is a cute added value feature, but finding what you need within millions of cr@ppy apps you’ll never need just shows that the phone is created for a younger market, it truly is a plug’n play phone.
As for the HTC HD2, just out of the box it looks sexy. Once turned on it hits you with a flashy graphical interface, which is a bit of a change from the older HTC’s black/white combo. It runs the WM 6.5 OS, many might not like the WM OS, but don’t throw it away until you’ve tried the 6.5! Significantly faster and user friendly interface (following Vista & W7) combined with Sense makes a quite stable system.
However I have found some flaws with the basic functions…
The on-screen keyboard is at time difficult to use. In landscape mode it eats the iPhones UI for breakfast, however in portrait (default) mode it is a bit hard to type fast. Letters get mixed up and you tend to end up with gibberish if you don’t pay attention to what you write. The arrow keys are a big bonus though!
Wi-Fi is very fast and stabile, but I did have issues connecting it several times. At this stage I’m unsure if this is due to my Wi-Fi router or the HTC, but has been on for 5 days now and no loss of connectivity.
Web-browsing is really fast both on Wi-Fi & 3G, and as an added feature the HTC HD2 also has now the (pinch) zoom functionality.
The camera is decent, compared to earlier HTC models it is superior, compared to Nokia’s Carl Zeiss lenses not really… However compared to the iPhone, I found the autofocus much faster and accurate & with addition of the flash the pic quality better. But again it’s a phone so naturally the camera is just another piece of the puzzle…
Movies & music:
Syncing the movies with Windows Media Player is easy, add the files to the library & press sync (it automatically converts the files to correct format). I missed this function with iPhone/iTunes combo.
However, I can’t get these movies to play in Sense’s player, only in WMP mobile on the phone. Bug or it doesn’t support wmv format, not sure…
The quality of the movies is quite good. The more the file is compressed the worse the quality, so I tried a DVD compressed to 250mb, 375mb, 700mb and by far the best quality is with the 700mb. The good part is that 1. it didn’t take long to convert & sync; 2. the 4,3″ screen delivers a whole new mobile movie watching experience! I almost started drooling…
Music is also easy to sync, same process as movies, but these can be played in Sense’s player. Audio quality is really good!
The 1Ghz processor does show on this phone, if you’ve used HTC’s before you’ll know that they do tend to hang sometimes and a reset is required (experienced same with iPhone), with HD2 I haven’t had to reset it at all for the last 5 days even with extensive installing/de-installing, movie watching, music, MS office etc… To me that is a sign of good Hardware/Software symbiosis.
Battery life varies significantly!
if used extensively, it’ll last for a day max.
if used for calling, sms & email (without Wi-Fi) it can last for 2 days.
I would say that finding the right “apps” for this phone is the important thing, because it’s a full touch screen and so big, you need to ensure to get the “app’s” that fit the resolution, or else you get menus that are tiny. I did find that using a rubber on the pencil as a stylus works fine though (this doesn’t work on iPhones).
Hopefully my review will settle some of the quarrels above, I’m not looking to justify any of the phones, just to provide some user feedback… but at the end of the day, it’s what you like and what you think that counts!
i bought the hd2 yesterday having lost my iphone! just wanted to see the difference, having used both phones i honestly have to say that i prefer the htc, it might just be because i like a change but the menu is faster and the movement when changing between pictures is much smoother, as for the internet argument, yes the iphone is that little it faster, but the screen quality and web browser overall make the htc better for browsing. The camera on the htc is miles better, admitedly there are better 5mp cameras outthere like on the new N900 but it beats the iphone with ease. Sorry iphone user but the htc really is the better phone!
I just bought a HD2 and love it. The thing I don’t like about the iPhone is it is so restrictive; you can only do what Apple permit you to do. With winmo I can find any app I want and install it, there are multiple app stores to download directly from the phone. Don’t like the home screen? Change it. Dont like the OS? flash a new one.
HD2 is supper fast and responsive, the screen is HUGE and crystal clear, the camera while not fantastic, beats the crap out of the iphone.
Hei monkey, where I can download HD2 application for free? just got my HD 2 and still confused. I use apple Iphone before and use appulo.us as application source, is there any website for winmo free application and games?
hi i recently bought a new phone and went for the iphone 32gbs 3gs over htc hd2, google n1, samsung galaxy due to four main factors (oh im not an iphone fan)
1. Iphone 3gs has a excellent OS even withthe 600mhz cpu it runs great
2. Iphone 3gs has the best apps FUNCTION over FORM
3. Iphone 3gs just so many good accessories
4. Jailbreaking and MUSIC
If HTC HD2 had a good base of apps that i wanted wouldve went that route, also though snapdragon is good Nvidia Tegra 2 phone is what i really want might see this in IP4GS or other so ip will do for now not the latest hardware or specs but all round a very good phone oh and when you want to sell it (if you have looked after it) you wont loose so much money on it
Last i hate itunes – god its bad so looking to jig something else here
Even in today’s press Apple is under fire because the iPhone has security holes that you can drive a truck though – no big news there I guess – all of their products are the same. Just because you release 50 patches at a time it doesn’t fool people into believing the platform is more secure.
Security will be a problem for Apple for some time yet.
The larger screen on the HD2 does look nice I must say…
i have had the hd2 now for 2 weeks, and was considering this or the iphone… I have 3 days left to either decide to keep the hd2 or go for the iphone… The main thing that kept me being unsure about keeping it was 1 thing… the app store of iphone. All that changed last night… I viewed the app store on my pc on apples site… Its no wonder apple boast over 100,000 aps on there… I looked at the top 20 apps for each category 70% were TOTAL rubbish and I mean total rubbish… eg 250 comments to say to your date (1 app) Crazy puppy pictures… view pictures of puppy dogs (1 app) If you were a dragon, how old would you be (1 app) the list goes on and on like that.. 100,000 apps of junk is meaningless.. 28% of the remaining apps that were useful were easily available on the internet to view eg film trailers, bus train times etc… leaving about 2% of the 100,000 actually good and exclusive to the iphone. Yes I know it can play games, but how quick do smart phones run out of battery power, iphone AND the HD2 you could get 2 max 3 days out of with normal usage…. Start playing those “good games” on the iphone and your battery dies in minutes, then you have an expensive brick in your pocket. So I am sticking with the HD2 in everything that matters it is a much better phone than the iphone.
can anybody tell me where I can get apps for my htc hd2 other than the market place? l’ve heart of different sites but have’nt found any yet. Also how I download them, do I download to my memory card etc
sI69b,
Three of the main places I use are…
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ you can get an alternate to windows market place there also to install onto your mobile and unlike marketplace these are all free.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=531 There you have to register, but its free to do and loads and loads of good stuff on it all for the HD2 including apps, games, tweaks, etc etc etc again all free.
http://forum.ppcwarez.org/ this site requires you to register, and erm not all of it on there is erm (well to explain… think of torrent sites where you download things)
But a very good site, again dedicated to touch screen mobiles such as the HD2
As for installing things, you download whats called CAB files, dont worry about understanding them, on all the sites above they are in the cab file format… and appear to be zipped… just hook your pc up to your phone with the supplied cable, active sync on your pc should kick in, explore your mobile phone then via active sync, and brows your phone till you get to the memory card, create a new folder on your memory card for example called “My downloads” and everything you download on the above sites ^^^^^ to your PC just drag them into the folder on your mobile phone… then on your mobile phone use file explorer and look for your downloads folder, and click on each app you see in there…. it asks you where do you want to install it too… in general I choose my memory card… and then done
A tip, get a large memory card.. as there are LOADS of apps out there, yes maybe not as organised as the apple store, but still loads…
BsB tweaks I would start with… its an excellent tweaks thing that adds extra things to your phone, improves all sorts and is easily uninstalled if you didnt like it… Not that you would want to ever uninstall it.. You can find that at the xda developers website…
there are loads of tweaks and things to customise your mobile, and make it truly excellent… if you need more info just ask in here and enjoy your new phone
Where do I even Start I own a HD2 and its Blows the iphone away and yes I have a 3gs as well And let me say the iphone is a toy yes there are great games and other apps But lets see there is over 15 ui out there that you can change to your not stuck to just one like the iphone ever think about that the camera blows away the iphones non flash the 1ghz cpu is 10times faster then iphones 624 mhz the full flash web browsers that wm can run like fire fox skyfire opera mobile netfront all blow away safari witch has no flash no silverlight or Ajax like Windows mobile Hmm what else 1gig Rom on HD2 4.3 inch Screen Full Wvga 480by800 unlike iphone low Res 320by480 Hvga old news HD2 Full mutitouch Capastive and pintch to Zoom on everything unlike iphone upgradable Storage unlike iphone Windows mobile now has Full Dual Boot So we can run Android and Blackberry OS unlike iphone and let me just say I have ran every Os there is I own a HD2/Nexus/3gs/N97/9700 as I am a Software tester for HTC and others But hands Down HD2 is the future and beats the iphone im not saying the iphone is crap becuase its a great media phone but against the HD2 No way No Go guys So for all you guys who had a windows phone along time ago and have something bad to say about it back then that was back then things have changed now you might wanna rethink things And BTW Windows phone 7 on the Way……
I currently have an Iphone 2G from O2, I have had this phone for over a year now. When I seen the HTC HD2 last week I was very surprised and I thought it was so good I have ordered one to replace the Iphone, with its terrible volume problem.
All producers are trying to produce an hit like iphone , there are users that duno to use it and use the old wizofs mobile .
Lol get first an iphone and use softs that are on it , and after compare with winzoft mozbile dumb phones .
The truth is that iphone is THE BEST SELL phone and multimedia centre in world .
For a hit like iphone to comme in market producer must make a new inovative solution , not a copy paste phne like htc hd2 or omnia hd .
Htc is better than iphone on somme thinks , but it lacks on feeling , and sales , lol .
Moris Jim…
Take away the app store from the Iphone, then tell me what is good about it?
Then after that look at the iphones 100,000 apps and tell me of those 100,000 apps how many you would truly want on your phone…
Then look at the battery life of it, how long can you play the “good games” on it.
The truth is The iphone is a successful games machine WITH a normal phone attached
The reason it is best selling, is only through good marketing, My niece said she really wants one… I asked her why… she said cause all her friends have one…
Thats why the iphone sells… NOT because its super special
As for it being innovative? nokia 3310s and those early phones were innovative, from the first early phones everyone has just copied and copied Apple are no different.
The iphone now is old technology. I’m sure when apple release the next incarnation of it, it will be excellent and cutting edge again… but at the moment, it is well below the new batch of smart phones
Ok, does anyone know where to find GOOD apps for the HTC HD2?? I’ve owned one for a month now and all the apps and games I can find on Windows Marketplace and searching google are very BORING apps! Like minesweeper and brain training…
Are there any decent 3d games or useful apps like barcode readers etc??
If there are I haven’t been able to find them!
Hi Mark,
As I mentioned above

There are barcode readers and many aps like that on there and games too… do bare in mind though, its NOT a games console. but you can get emulators on the xda and warez sites
If you want a games machine thats what the nintendo sony and the iphone machines are.. for playing games
One thing I would recommend for every hd2 owner… Cookies Home Tab, which you can find on the xda developers website mentioned above.
Thanks Ian for your speedy response to my query about apps.
I’ll be checking out the websites you recommended.
I didn’t expect the HD2 to be great for games but I have to see that from what i’ve seen so far that the HD2 is somewhat lacking in the apps department compared to some of the things i’ve seen on my friends iphones.
Thanks again!
Happy to help Mark,
The imdb app is quite useful too, which is being constantly upgraded.
Midomi another very good app for identifying music (dont pay for it, its a free app)
Of course get skyfire (type skyfire in google)
Uconvert conversion sortware
skype (from skype)
Sky mobile to set your sky+ or HD box from your phone
Live departures being worked on all the time for as they happen train departures
Miasto Muzyki (great radio app)
Cyberon voice speed dial (free app for voice dialing)
torch app makes full use of your very bright LED’s
Make sure you get BsB tweaks this gives extra settings to the camera and camcorder functions
As mentioned cookies home tab… (that should have been with the HD2 when released Its that good)
The new facebook update (essential)
games
experiment 13, resco bubbles, scrabble, worms for ppc, prison tycoon… it goes on look on warez for games
Slim passwords

Ok both are really good HD2 have better video quality but iphone little bit
, HD2 have when you put your ear automatic turn off the iphone dosen’t have that,
HD2 have weather animation thats make the phone cool but iphone have weather not animation, BUT HD2 games sucks even dosen’t have Accelerometer on games the iphone still popular for the apps make the phone even fun.
