Guide: How to Jailbreak iPhone / iPod Touch 3.1.2 firmware using Blackra1n on MAC

In this video the YouTube user “tysiphonehelp” will show you the easiest way to jailbreak any iPhone or iPod Touch on the 3.1.2 firmware using Blackra1n on Mac. If you are a Windows user, check out this guide
(Jailbreak your phone at your own risk, you may damage your phone)
Notes:
- If you continue to have problems with this just wait for a jailbreak from the DevTeam. It will work perfectly with NO bugs.
- If your iPhone is Unlocked DO NOT do this guide, its only for a jailbreak. Subscribe to stay tuned for my unlocking guide.
- If you have problems with the program getting stuck on connect to itunes mode(recovery mode) close the program, reboot your device by hold home and power for 20 seconds and try the program again no matter what state your device is in.
- If you have an iPod Touch 3G (if it was bought after September 9th this is a tethered jailbreak. That means if you turn your device off and you want to turn it back on your have to plug it up to the computer and run Blackra1n again to get it to reboot.)
- If your new iPod Touch 2G/3G 8g model number starts with MB it’ll work, if your model starts with MC it won’t. Go to Settings – General – About to see your model number.
- If you get stuck at the part where it says “going into recovery mode” and it stops doing anything, manually put it in recovery mode. If you don’t know how google it!
- Some Cydia applications aren’t working at the moment. Just be patient they will update them!

i tried jailbreaking my ipod touch. i have windows vista. so what happens is that i click on “make it ra1n” and all that happens is that it shows to connect my cable into itunes on the ipod and nothing comes up. i dont know wat to do

Blackra1n does not jailbreak iPod Touch. If it does, then your iPod Touch is going to have very serious problem. TAKE RISK ON YOUR OWN PEOPLE!

Ive had to restore my ipod twice because of this s**t. I had to put all my movies, songs, and settings back on the ipod because of that s**t blackra1n.

okay i was doing the blackrain and was in the middle of the setup and i thought nothing was happening so i disconnected the ipod touch which 3G 3.1.2
now all i see is a usb cable and itunes.
i cant get out of it and im really sad as i love this thing

i installed itunes on another computer and it successfully restored my ipod to factory settings

Okay. So I thoguht everything was going good. Up until I tried to get an app that I had to pay for and then all of a sudden it says I have to pay for it and to enter billing information. Now what do I do? Honestly, I think this is just so stupid. Help. Please. I wanna know if I did anything wrong. Thanks.
Ok, I’ve loaded up the screen with that that Geo guy painting but immediatedly after, there is a small swirl logo on the bottom and my ipod touch 3rd gen 3.1.2 goes BLACK and I cant turn it on. I have to restore it then. Ive tried several times. Help! Someone please reply!!!!
This shit fucked up my ipod! I get that same usb/itunes logo as everyone else, but itunes won’t let me restore it. It says it’s in recovery mode and that i need to restore it, but the restore button is grayed out in itunes. Does anyone have any advice?
OMG!!! this will not frickin work! im doin it on mi mac and im doin everything he says but all tht happens is tht the USB cable with the arrow pointing to the itunes sign!i can reboot it but it just shows up again! wat do i do plz some1 help me!!!
I had the same problem. I found out that if I waited a while and then tried running blackra1n again and the problem went away. I tried some more jailbreak stuff after this and the result was always the same: I had to either completely restore my ipod or rerun blackra1n. I gave up, it doesn’t seem at all worth it.

this is hilarious, Everyone now has the newest ipod updates, yes, BUT the model currently being sold is MC******. This can be verified by entering the settings app on iTouch, then going into About. Scroll down and you will find model. If your model code starts with MC, do not, repeat DO NOT, use blackra1n, under any circumstances. It will kill your iTouch, after so many attempts. As for those of you with an earlier model, go hogwild. i will post a link to site that has jailbreak for model MC as soon as i find it.
yeah i tryed this blackrain jailbreak and while it was running on my ipod it didnt work and had the itunes logo. what i did was restore the ipod ON ANOTHER COMPUTER and it should work. plus i found out my model starts with MC so im lucky my ipod wasnt killed lol. soon as you get the new jailbreak for MC model tell me and i would appreciate it.
hope everyone solves the problems with their ipods as i know how you feel when u have a problem like this on the ipod touch. i know because i had it for one day!!! and tried this and got it bust but its cool now.
guys with the usb/itunes problem, restore it, and after that use blackra1n again. while it is showing the picture of geohotz quickly open blackra1n and use it again. it will work
My ipod device 1G is our important iPod, Pda and a lot more, plus has long been since I recieved it. It continues to work on the most current iPod system software program, and any iphone app I need to have it to run. I’m working with it to leave this remark at this time. Iwould say it is really a much more as compared with simply an “excellent hobbyist system” — it can be an wonderful iPod
