Nokia finally admits that the lens cover on the Nokia N97 have been mounted to close to the lens glass which makes it it easy to scratch the lens on the Nokia N97. If you are one of those “few” that have this problem, try the following tip:
If you’re an N97 user and you’ve noticed the image quality on your device is affected by this, then this is what you should do:
1: Take a soft cloth and clean the lens.
2: If that doesn’t work, get in touch with your nearest Nokia Care Point where the Nokia Care Point staff can then determine whether or not the lens and or the lens cover mechanism needs replacing under the device warranty.

hi,how to find out which product code have the problem ,or find out from the date of manufacture ? It will help to avoid buying that devices.

I don’t want to give them my phone so they do a half an hour job in 3 weeks (again), I’d rather order the part and service it myself, Can anyone find out if the lenses&covers they are going to be replacing the broken ones with are noticeably different in appearance?
The flagship store in the uk took in myphone 3 weeks ago that they said would only be in for two days and are still waiting on some sort of mysterious part (I assume the part for the camera lens). Some days I wish I had not sold my 5800.
hi there…I have the same lens scratching problem with my nokia N97. I cant take pictures with it. A white shade comes all the time in those pictures. I went to Nokia Care and they said they cant do anything with it. They also said that they don’t have the solution for it. What to do? Need help.
well i am one of those who have the scratches indeed, however i have then just between Lens+Flash, so i dont have any loss of sharpness or brightness or what so ever…. though i am going to bring it back….
My phone has come back from repair and it has had the scratched lens replaced and a new modified camera shield. So help is out there folks.
What about when there’s no Nokia Care Point / flagship store in the country? We don’t have any here in Brunei. It sucks. What are we supposed to do? There’s a straight-line scratch from I don’t know what on my lens and I suspect it’s caused by the cover, every time I take pictures with the flash on, half of the image becomes white/yellow – up til the scratch line – and the other half is normal.
If you bought from a recognised retailer then there should be care point centre in your country.
