I also has “resource download failed java.io.IOException” when installing v5, on the SonyEricsson Equinox.

There is actually a signed version of v5 available, and it worked when I installed that one.

When you are on the download page for v5, instead of clicking on the download link, go further down to the link that says something like "signing options for Opera Mini 5". The next page will give you the option for multi certificate, etc, just as you normally see for v4.

I don't know why the unsigned version didn't work, because I was able to enable all permissions for it before launching it.

So as I mentioned it above I had the following error message when installing opera mini 5 beta on my nokia 6700:

“resource download failed java.io.IOException”

BUT I could successfully install Opera mini 5 beta on my nokia 5310, work great...

So I've copied this installed version to a memory card, and placed it in my Nokia 6700. Opera mini started nicely, it "works off-line", BUT it simply can not connect to any website, since it encounters a network connection problem.

I don't know what is still the problem..the integrated browser works fine, and I could use Opera mini 5 beta on my 5310 too... :(

Hey guys I was having the same Resource Download Failed error on a Nokia 5530, Here what I did to solve the problem:

I went to:

1. Configuration -> Application Admin -> Installed Applications ->
2. Then I select Opera Mini 5 beta and hit on options
3. Then I opened Suite Configurations
4. And in Access point I selected the Wifi Connection to where opera will connect.

And that's it! I could open Opera on this cellphone...

I hope it's usefull for you!
