Nokia To Offer Customisation to Carrier/Operators Re:Maemo N900

In what maybe felt by some to be hurried rush to smooth the existing pathway with carriers and operators, Nokia has said it IS to offer the availability of customisation within its Maemo N900. Phil of Nokia Conversations, said today (11 September 2009)  ”…while we have not announced immediate plans to offer an operator variant for the N900, there are many customisation points for operators on the N900. It would be absolutely incorrect to assume that we will not offer operators the ability to tailor future Maemo devices to suit their needs”.

  1. oh man! thats not good! the operators should stay away from our phones! specially vodafone ;)

  2. i agree, The operators will just mess up the entire phone if they start to customise

  3. yeah, i remember my old SE k700 that was modified by Vodafone, piece of crap ever made! :)

  4. not to mention it’ll slow down releases of f/w updates!

  5. yeah, sometimes by months!

  6. or in some cases such as the n95-3 never got the latest updates to the n95-1. Over a year has gone by with no new updates, but people have perceived that it is because nokia wanted to push the n95 8gbNAM so refused to other the n95-3NAM the newer updates. Perhaps a time will come when Nokia OS firmwares are available in older phones as per the iPhone with new updates to OS3 with it being available in the iphone 3G as well as the newer iphone 3GS
