Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications today announces that Bert Nordberg, currently Executive Vice President of the Ericsson Group and Head of Ericsson Silicon Valley, will join Sony Ericsson as Co-President effective 1st September. Mr. Nordberg will work closely with Sony Ericsson President Hideki (Dick) Komiyama and the entire senior management team to effect a smooth management transition. Mr. Nordberg, who will be based at Sony Ericsson’s global headquarters in London, will assume the role of President, Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, on 15 October, and Mr. Komiyama will retire from the company at the end of the year.
Celebrations abound but extra prayers are needed. The Apple App store has had Facebook 3.0 submitted. We know what a roller-coaster ride the approval to the App Store can be with some Apps being issued publishing permission only to have the App removed at a later date. Hopefully none of this befalls the new Facebook 3.0 and its new fifteen (yes, you heard clearly, fifteen) positively new features. Prior to listing the good news however, I should point out that unfortunately Push Notifications is not one of them. However, moving on swiftly from that small disappointment let us real off the new features.
Huawei Technologies , one of China’s largest networking and telecommunications supplier, is releasing a unique device on the T-Mobile network. A mystery photo has arisen from a phone retailer. The elusive Nokia N97 mini is revealed along with other Nokia phones that are not clearly defined. We can see in the far right-hand corner what appears to be the E52 and E72. A new touch screen is pictured rumoured to be the 5900 and we can see the similarity to the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone. A few other unknowns namely a slider – possibly of the Nseries N86 family and an additional slider handset which although has the requisite D-pad, it is unusually positioned.
