GadgetShieldz Protector Review

Firstly, I would like to thank the folks over at gadgetshieldz.com for letting me review their Gadgetshieldz phone protectors.
At first, when I had received the package, which came in a simple standard-sized envelope, I was quite spectacle about the resistance of the protector since it was just .2 millimeters in thickness! But that was until I saw this pic (above) on their website
And I tried doing my own test with a pen and the results were very surprising:
The pic above is me trying to pierce the plastic screen with a considerate pressure but still the plastic didn’t tear. Very impressive in terms of resistance.
The resistance of the protector is equivalent to the difficulty it takes to just apply the protector. According to the website, the plastic films have to be first cleaned with a little water containing baby shampoo, then since the protector is extremely sticky, applying it on the device, especially on your screen are very difficult, then after applying the protector, leave the device off for the next 12-24 hours. A pain in the neck if you ask me since I can’t stay away from my phone for than an hour. This tiresome and complicated application is extremely annoying and is a big minus in my book.
After leaving the device for a few hours(about 8 hours), I switched the device back on and to my surprise, even though it was said in many other reviews that the bubbles disappear after the wait, it turned out that that, yes, the bubbles did disappear but leaving behind strange marks:
But the protector did do its job on the back cover and on the device’s borders, becoming virtually invisible unless seen under the sun or some source of direct light:
In the end, after having used the protector for 2 weeks I can say that even though there were marks left after the installation, they didn’t cause any disturbance in daily usage nor was their ANY(yes, even after 2 weeks of usage, the protector was scratch-less!) scratches on the screen apart from, as I have mentioned above, the marks left from the application process. So the protector does live up to its reputation, enabling you to live a scratch-less life. Worth its price at starting at $7 dollars onwards, the protector is, if you have patience, a worthy buy. And with a very large catalog(http://www.gadgetshieldz.com/catalog.html)which is being constantly updated, everybody can find something for their device. The protector scores a 3 ½ star in my book, losing 1 ½ star for the troublesome installation.
Pros:
- Cheap, starting at $7 with free worldwide shipping
- Very resistant(as shown in the pics below)
- Perfectly cut for the device
- A large catalog of devices available catering to many phones, music players and more
Cons:
- A VERY troublesome installation
- Protector on screen leaves strange marks
- Makes the phone look a bit old in direct light
- The packaging is a little simple(but it doesn’t affect the rating since I wont expect for the price its being sold for)
[Thx Rwishi]
