Guide: How to get certificate files for your Symbian phone – Sign and install unsigned application

Are you tired of getting the “certificate error” message when installing application on your Symbian phone? The reason is that the application that you are trying to install “haven’t” been approved by Symbian foundation. But most of us know that most of the good freeware application haven’t been “signed” so we need to sign them ourselves. There are two ways to install the “unsigned” applications. First is to hack your phone. That means that you need to fool the phones firmware (by editing it) so that it allows you to install the unsigned application.
The Second way to install unsigned applications is to get the certificate files. With the certificate files you’ll need to sign the unsigned application from your computer (takes less than 10sec) and then install is as usual on your phone. No need to edit your phones firmware or any other hacks, and the best of all is that it works with all Symbian phones (s60v3 and later).
max_online32 has published a new way of getting a certificate file for Symbian phones. I just tried it and it took less than 4 hours to get the certificate files for my Nokia 5800. Read more on how to get those certificate files over at our forum
