Symbian: Symbian Guru “After Call” app review
Posted by: Phat^Trance in Nokia, Nokia Apps (S60v3)
The team over at Symbian Guru ( symbianguru.com) were kind enough to hit us up with a code for one of their applications, ‘After Call’ (Version 1.0 released 15.02.2008) . The premise of this app is simple. Tasks that you might want to do after you hang up with someone or are unable to pick up the phone in a first place. ‘After call’ consolidates all primary things you might want to do into one screen that appears after incoming/outgoing/missed call.
This is the screen that allows you to make choices as to what you want to do next, or skip and continue on with what you would normally do.
I have been testing this application on a Nokia N82, with gmail, google search, handy shell (including handy weather) running in the background and I still have 76.4 megs of ram left. As you can see there is plenty of options for even the pickiest of the users alike. You can send a text or mms, add to contact, go to calendar to set up a new meeting or task all from one screen.
‘After Call’ gives you options on when you want the application to kick in:
You can select any/all or just one of the options for ‘After Call’ to kick in. You can also substitute your build in log and set it to any number of calls you would like to have a running record of. I have mine right now set to 60. I also do not believe that it has any expiration date, unlike the build in call log manager. I have not been able to check it 100% as I have only been playing with this beauty for a little over a week.
‘After Call’ does exactly what it’s title states and does it rather well. It gives you the flexibility of what to do next, with a time saving (menu clicking) all in one solution into one screen. I have had no issues using this application, it works well and stability is consistent. I have not had a single crash as a result of running ‘After Call’.
I like the screen set up, it’s simple, clear and gives you all the info you are looking for in an after call summary. I know that many users have issues with the build in call log, this is actually a great way to manage calls, with more detail and more on your terms, as I don’t believe that the 60 phone log that I have set up for myself will be erased after a week, 10 days or 30 days. If efficiency is your middle name, then I would highly recommend this application as a great call management system. Is it an application for everyone? Surely you know the answer, no. It is for people that need to get places fast whether it is on their phones or in daily life. Please visit symbianguru.com for more great applications and information about their products.
Thanks Symbian Guru team for letting us utilize and write about your product.
