O2 has won the exclusivity on the Palm Pre smartphone after beating stiff competition from Orange and Vodafone. The device is expected in shops before Christmas, and has started rumours that O2 could be losing its exclusivity with the Apple iPhone. The Palm Pre has a 3.1-inch touch-screen and comes with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. It features Palm’s new operating system and has Wi-Fi and built-in navigation. Palm is also planning to launch an app store for the device.
An O2 spokeswoman said: ‘We don’t comment on rumour and speculation and have made no announcement on this particular handset.’
