This is not your typical T-Mobile cut prices news or network coverage issues. It’s all about sing along, Life’s for Sharing and flash mob advertising with 13,500 people spontaneously signing Hey Jude, karaoke style. Trafalgar Square in London turned into a huge kinder garden for adults and under ages to sign, enjoy and engage with the T-Mobile brand like there’s no tomorrow for fun and a pint. Enjoy the 4 minute video after the break and hope for more fun and creative stuff like this to happen. Was anyone there? Read More »
The word on the street is that Best Buy will offer some limited inventory of Palm Pre on June 7th. That is 4.500 Pres available across all Best Buy stores and although this is not confirm it’s enough to make us all excited and worried. Is Palm going to steal the thunder from Apple’s WWDC or not? Will Best Buy offer the Palm Prejust a day before the event or this is another PR stunt? According to BGR, “Pricing is supposedly still being discussed but the probable points are as follows: New customers with a 2-year contract, $199.99. Existing customer upgrades, $299.99. Outright, $999.99. Yes, seriously.”
One compelling scenario for the use of GPS enabled phones is support for navigation. While service based approaches to support such navigation tasks are becoming increasingly available whereby a user downloads (for a fee) a relevant map of her current area onto her GPS enabled phone, the approach is often far from ideal. Typically such maps are highly generalised and may not match the users current activity and needs. Indeed, one will often see such specialised maps on public signs situated where they may be required and it is interesting to consider how one might enable users to walk up to such situated signs and use their mobile phone to take away the map presented in order to use it to assist their on-going navigation activity. With our J2ME application, we show how the user grabs a map shown on a public display by taking a photograph of it and using it as a digital map on her mobile phone (optimized for Nokia N95 S60) Source: nokiadevforum
