At the opening keynote of the 3rd annual WIMA conference, held at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, Nokia announced its third fully integrated Near Field Communication (NFC) device, the Nokia 6216 classic. The new arrival is Nokia’s first SIM-based NFC device which enables operators to build NFC services on to the SIM card. With NFC consumers will benefit from greater ease of use, more convenient sharing of content – such as images, weblinks, audio files or contact data – as well as secure payment and ticketing transactions, all with just one tap of the device. The Nokia 6216 classic is expected to start shipping in the third quarter of 2009 in select markets with an estimated retail price of EUR 150 before taxes and subsidies.

Nokia and A1 today announced that A1 will begin offering the new Nokia Messaging consumer email service to its subscribers in Austria from May 2009. A1, part of mobilkom austria, is the first operator in Austria to introduce the service, which enables people to enjoy easy access to mobile email on their Nokia devices.
As a special offer, the service and associated data plan will be free of charge for a one month test period, after which the subscription price will be 5 euros/month.

Music Ally claimed yesterday that Comes With Music has won 23,000 British subscribers since launching last year.

A leaked Toshiba roadmap revealed a string of new phones to follow the already announced TG01. The documents, which were first leaked on Techblog and comprise a pictorial guide of new handsets, point to the release of further touch-screens, the TGO2 and TGO3, and a QWERTY range to be released in Q4 2009 and Q1 2010.
