Apple’s iPhone applications have been downloaded almost a billion times in the last nine months, while income from networks and other associated services rose to $1.52bn compared with $378m  a year earlier. The manufacturer reported its results for the first quarter of 2009 today (23 April).

The iPhone sold more than 3.7 million units worldwide during the period – a 123% increase on the same three months last year. The company posted profits of $121bn  – a 15% increase on the Q1 2008 figure. Revenues from iPhone sales were $2.2bn.

The store offers millions of local and international tracks including Prime Circle, Karen Zoid, Proverb and Simphiwe Dana. The Nokia Music Store will also boast exclusive download rights for the Mnet Idols Season 5 winner track from Monday 4th May for 7 days.
