Apple Store: 1 Billion App Download
Apple’s iPhone applications have been downloaded almost a billion times in the last nine months, while income from networks and other associated services rose to $1.52bn compared with $378m  a year earlier. The manufacturer reported its results for the first quarter of 2009 today (23 April).

The iPhone sold more than 3.7 million units worldwide during the period – a 123% increase on the same three months last year. The company posted profits of $121bn  – a 15% increase on the Q1 2008 figure. Revenues from iPhone sales were $2.2bn.

In January, Apple announced that it had sold 4.4 million iPhones during the last quarter of 2008 – an 88% surge on the previous year. The technology giant also saw a record net profit of $1.61bn, proving its resilience to economic conditions.
