In a potential setback to its U.S. expansion efforts, Nokia Corp. was forced to pull its first high-profile touch-screen smart phone from its flagship Manhattan store, citing the device’s problems connecting to the local third-generation, or 3G, network.

Nokia said that its 5800 XpressMusic device – a media-centric smart phone and the company’s first crack at a touch-screen device since Apple’s iPhone hit the market – was having connection problems in New York and Chicago. The device works in Dallas and Miami.

“The investigation is ongoing on the device itself and the network used in these cases,” a Nokia spokeswoman said, adding that it was an isolated issue only found in North America. She declined to comment on why the phone would work in some markets and not others.

Presentation of some new features of the upcoming 1.2 version of xGPS for the iPhone 3G

Everybody would say: Finally! Yes, xGPS 1.2 has been released. The version has been sent to the MMI repository and will be available within some hours. It should be in everybody’s Cydia as the MMI repository is installed by default. Just do a refresh within some hours and xGPS should pop up.

This version of xGPS has required us a lot of hours of work. We have tried to bring the most advanced and stable navigation software for the iPhone / iPod touch. However, even if we have made our best, you have to keep in mind that this software is free but not bug free. If you experience such a bug feel free to ask in the forum but do not say “It doesn’t work, it’s crappy”.

Fring for Nokia 5800 has matured to RC stage . Many bugs in earlier alpha (beta ) version has been resolved.

Known issues:

1. MSN crash: This is a server side issue that should be solved on the server in the next few days. If you happen to have friends with long nicknames, please do not use this service in the next few days.
