Nokia takes top prize at Mobile World Congress for its environmental contributionPosted by: Phat^Trance in Nokia, Press releasesNokia’s long standing commitment to environmental action has been recognized at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona where the company received the GSMA’s first award for Outstanding Environmental Contribution. The company also walked away with the award for the Best Mobile Internet Service for the Nokia Sports Tracker. Accepting the Environmental Award Nokia’s CEO, Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo said, “It is an honor to accept this on behalf of the thousands of Nokia people who have made sustainable, environmentally sensitive practices an integral part of our day to day business. With more than a billion people using Nokia phones globally, we feel we have a responsibility to make a difference.” He added, “Environmental sustainability is not just the right thing to do, it is the only thing to do. I have long maintained that doing the right thing for the environment also makes good business sense.”

Nokia and FISHLABS Entertainment GmbH, a leading developer and publisher of high-quality 3D mobile games, today announced an agreement to bring games to the N-Gage service. Titles scheduled for release in 2009 include, Powerboat Challenge(TM), Rally Master Pro(TM), and Snowboard Hero(TM) followed by Galaxy on Fire(TM) and Blades & Magic(TM) in early 2010. All titles will be significantly improved in terms of graphics and sound quality and will be enhanced with additional features. With the powerful multimedia capabilities of N-Gage compatible mobile phones, FISHLABS can now offer an even better gaming experience.

It can be used to improve readability in every-day life situations such as reading “fine print”. Anyone who has difficulty seeing “fine print” or small objects can benefit from using this application readily available on their S60 phone. Nokia Magnifier has a built in stabilizer to reduce the effects of a shaky hand and negative filter enabling users to switch from light to dark backgrounds improving readability. By using the existing camera technology, users can also snap a picture of the enhanced image for later reference.
