Symbian: Fortinet Investigates a New SMS Mobile Worm

The FortiGuard Global Security Research Team has investigated the case of a new mobile worm resorting to a breakthrough propagation strategy, which leverages SMS messages and Internet access.

This new worm, deemed SymbOS/Yxes.A!worm (also known as “Sexy View”), is targeting mobile devices running SymbianOS S60 3rd Edition (eg: Nokia 3250), but may run on a wider range of devices, as it has been reported to function on phones operating SymbianOS S60 3rd edition FP 1 (eg: Nokia N73). It bears a valid certificate signed by Symbian, and installs as a valid application on factory mobile devices running S60 3rd Edition.

Now this is a cool feature that i would love to have on my phone! Endaget mobile has published some photos of the Samsung Show i7410, Samsungs first prjector phone. You can find the gallery here.   

The Samsung I7410 is a tri-band GSM with integrated DLP projector. The phone will be able to project content with flexible image sizes, from 5 to 50 inches. Other features include WQVGA touch screen, 5-megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth, microSDHC slot for memory and TouchWiz user interface.

LG Renoir is the successor of the Viewty, also a touchscreen phone. It is only 14mm thick but has 8-megapixel camera with Xenon flash, Schneider-Kreuznach and, geo tagging and lots of other features. Video can be captured in VGA resolution at 30fps or in QVGA at up to 120fps for slow motion effect. It is the first LG for the global market with Dolby sound for better music and video sound. For video playback, it features both DivX and XviD and the TV-out allows for previewing on a large screen. It is quad-band GSM with HSDPA 7.2 Mbps and WiFi support.  Shazam Partners With Samsung to Offer Enhanced Service

Shazam, the world’s leading mobile music discovery provider, today announced that it has embedded its technology in the Samsung BeatDJ and BeatDISC (models: M7600 and M6710 respectively), which have just been announced at Mobile World Congress. These new phones will initially include the Find Similar and Find Tag features to give customers an even better music experience. These latest Samsung handsets will be available across the world by April and May 2009, respectively.

“We’ve been working with Samsung for several years and our service has been embedded in many of their handsets,” said Andrew Fisher, Shazam’s CEO. “We’ve worked closely with Samsung to incorporate feedback on how we could build on the existing Find Music service and these new features for Samsung’s latest handsets offer an even greater music experience for their customers.”
